Poor Guys....

"God gave men both a penis and a brain, but unfortunately not enough blood supply to run both at the same time...lol" This was the post on a friends Face Book page today that caught my attention and I told him that I intended to share this with all of you.....so what is the deal, and is there truth to this topic? You bet your sweet ass there is. We women think that we have problems....how many of you (like myself) have said that "men have no idea" what we go through? In a sense, until my friend made this statement, I thought men had life by the balls, but apparently, if they don't take care of themselves, or they do too much and mix too many things,......alcohol, meds, etc....their special time with a woman could be a real downer. Think about it ladies, we turn our bodies and sexual functions off like running water. One minute we are hot and horny and the next, we could care less......we at least have that option. Men,....not so much....that really would suck. So lets cut them some slack shall we? This is in honor of the men who have one to many to drink, and can't get his  product to work.....or because he is on meds and drinking alcohol...guys, seriously?? What are you thinking??

So what happens to their bodies and how does this occur exactly?

Well, they are not getting the right amount of toxins to the brain, or they get the wrong ones! Alcohol, drugs of abuse, nicotine, much caffeine, and many medications decrease blood flow to the brain. When blood flow is decreased the brain cannot work efficiently. Avoid these toxic substances. In a similar way, sleep deprivation also decreases brain activity and limits access to learning, memory, and concentration. A recent brain imaging study showed that people who consistently slept less than 7 hours had overall less brain activity. Getting enough sleep is essential to brain function.


So when a man can't "get it up" there is a new technical name for it......Erectile Dysfunction. This is also commonly known as  impotence usually affects men as they enter into middle age, although it can affect younger men as well.  As men enter into this stage of life, they have a marked decrease in testosterone and in libido. There is also usually an increase in fat composition and a decrease in circulatory efficiency.  Erectile dysfunction can decrease a man’s self-esteem and can also strain otherwise healthy relationships.

Natural Options – there are a variety of natural options for individuals to try if the traditional medical route is not what they are looking for.  These options include:
  1. Nutritional Supplements – arginine, bioflavonoids, vitamin C, vitamin E and flaxseed have shown positive results for those suffering with erectile dysfunction.
  2. Herbal Remedies – Asian ginseng and ginkgo biloba are thought to improve erectile dysfunction in some men.
  3. Acupuncture – acupuncture stimulates the body, allowing it to resist of overcome conditions in the body.
Lifestyle Changes – one of the easiest ways to try and overcome erectile dysfunction is to make lifestyle changes.   Listed below are a few common changes that should be made.
  1. Exercise regularly – The source of the problem is mainly circulatory in nature – basically, there is not enough blood flow to the penis, which affects a man’s ability to sustain an erection for an extended period of time.  In short, an increase of blood flow throughout the body is needed. Get up and get active! 30 minutes of exercise a day will do the trick – get your heart pumping with a brisk walk, a bike ride, swimming, etc.
  2. Eat balanced, healthy meals – by reducing the fat and cholesterol in your meals, you will decrease the amount of plaque in your arteries which will allow the blood to flow more freely.  Also, eating water-soluble foods will help to flush and de-toxify your body, allowing it to work more efficiently.
  3. Quit smoking – yet another reason!
  4. Decrease your alcohol and caffeine consumption
  5. Reduce stress levels – learn to relax using breathing techniques or other coping mechanisms.
