Eat Healthier for the Holidays....Let's Talk Turkey!

With the hustle and bustle of the holidays, and all the traveling that we do...the tempting treats and party food, and the general disruption to our normal routine, many people feel that weight gain is inevitable for them over the holiday period. Ok, Granted, it can be difficult to squeeze physical activity into our busy schedules with so much going on. Unfortunately, those who take a break from their exercise routine sometimes find it extremely difficult to get back on track again.

We already know the huge benefit exercise has on our bodies, including helping to reduce stress levels, giving more energy, lower cholerestol levels, blood pressure, and blood, and helping with weight maintenance. Exercise is also known to help reduced our risk of developing heart diseases and stroke. Be careful. find the time to exercise for a few minutes each day. Find ways to burn those unwanted calories, and yes, while most of you are thinking no surprising trips to the fridge in the middle of the night, or to the pantry with a spoon for some yummy peanut butter, it can also be in the form of burning up those calories with exercise that involves having sex. Yes you heard me SEX.

Avoid overindulgence, NO ALL YOU CAN EAT BUFFETS!

While it’s totally fine to indulge from time to time, regular travelers need to say no to excessive buffet eating (especially prevalent at all-inclusive resorts and Grandma’s table), and to ordering restaurant meals laden with fat and calories. Try this,...Choose healthy salads, grilled lean proteins and steamed vegetables for regular meals this holiday and keep your portions reasonable. We aren't bears, as Ellen DeGeneres once said, and we don't hibernate, so we DON'T need a shit load of food to eat.

Carry low-calorie snacks in your travel bags

Getting from point A to point B over the holidays can be stressful, flight changes. delays, weather issues, and lets not forget the already thought of having to sleep in your old room that you parents haven't touch (decorating wise that is since you left) Air Supply poster? Seriously mother? Think about it...how many travelers make poor food choices because they don’t know when they will have time to eat their next meal. If you are traveling with children, it can be even more difficult. Carrying snacks and filling all your bags with fruit, protein bars or trail mix can help ensure you will never go hungry. The more ravenous you are, the more likely you are to head straight for the drive-through...plus this stuff will cost you a small fortune in the airport shops.

Watch your alcohol consumption

People don't realize how many calories liquors have in them. Hey, that beer gut didn't just pop out over night! Calories from alcohol can add up quickly. Drinking regularly at holiday dinners, cocktail receptions and the airport will contribute to and accelerate weight gain over a period of time. To avoid overindulging, try the "one for one" rule. “Drink one glass of sparkling water or club soda with a lime between each alcoholic beverage to help curb your alcohol consumption,” Tomor says.

Drink tons of water

Yes you heard me, WATER! Thirst can actually be mistaken for hunger. By drinking at least eight glasses of water per day, or more if you are flying, you may help reduce the amount of food that you eat and avoid overeating. Not to mention that it’s always important to stay hydrated, no matter the season. Keep a reusable bottle with you no matter where you are so you can easily sip on the go.

Always find time to exercise

Pack your workout clothes and shoes before you pack anything else so you have no excuse not to exercise. She also advises planning ahead and finding a gym or running trails near your hotel if it is not equipped with workout facilities. You can also upload workout videos to your laptop or carry compact exercise bands with you in your suitcase to ensure you work out while away. "Think 'when,' not 'if' when it comes to exercise," she says.

Don’t go to restaurants hungry

Being away from home also means eating out -- a lot. Restaurant eating is not only taxing on your wallet, but your waistline, too. To avoid any diet sabotage, Might I suggest tending to your stomach before heading out to eat by drinking water to curb some of your feelings of hunger. Better yet, sip on water with a twist of lemon or lime en route to the restaurant.

Say yes to salad

When you are on vacation (even if it’s just to another city to visit relatives) it can be easy to eat more than usual, especially at restaurants. Avoid that by filling up on greens. “As soon as you sit down to eat, order a side salad along with your beverage,” she says. “That way you will avoid eating chips and bread, which are full of calories.” Salads are so good and so much better for you,...providing you don't pile on the cheeses and thick creamy dressings.

Customize your meals at restaurants

Apparently, Victoria Beckham has been known to order “steamed broccoli” at restaurants – as her meal. We’re not suggesting you go that far, but you can trim calories easily when you eat out. Avoid eating fried foods or meals laden with heavy sauces and butters. Instead, she suggests ordering meals with sauces or dressings on the side. You can also ask the chef to prepare your meal with no butter or less butter. If the restaurant isn’t busy, your request will likely be accommodated.

Skip the calorie-laden condiments

One tablespoon of mayonnaise has 100 calories, and chances are that whatever is on your club sandwich is more than a tablespoon. (at least it sure is with mine.) We know condiments help boost flavor and improve a meal, but it’s all about making smarter choices. “If you need condiments, choose lower-calorie options, such as mustard, which only has three calories per teaspoon.”

Stay energized between meals

Having healthy snacks on hand means you and your family will stay energized between meals and never get too hungry. “Pack snacks in all of your bags, so you are not reaching for doughnuts and fried foods when you're hungry." Some portable snack options include protein bars, raw nuts, fresh or dried fruit, bagels, pretzels, low-sugar granola bars, low-fat energy bars and mini carrots.

Follow these tips to help you make wise choices throughout the day:

  • If you're cooking use substitutions to trim the fat; for instance, use chicken broth or skim milk instead of cream or butter in mashed potatoes.
  • Avoid portion distortion by eating off of a salad plate.
  • Tell yourself that you will not go back for seconds unless you are still hungry
  • Indulge where it doesn't count - feel free to eat as many vegetables as you would like!
  • Relax - stress can lead to overeating.  Exercising early in the day can help with this.
Enjoy your company - remember that the holiday isn't ALL about the food.  It's about taking time to remember the things you are thankful for. Now then, lets talk turkey.....watch what your body consumes over the holidays! Be careful! Your body is your home and you can't put it up for sale, unfortunately it's the only one you'll ever have...so take care of it and keep it safe. If you follow the few things I've mentioned above, you'll stay health and keep the pounds off.

Let's Talk About Sex ....

What is involved in the natural art of making love? Please don't say a bottle of wine and candlelight dinner,..but that is a starter, and quite the romantic one. A lot of thought generally goes into this big ordeal because it is a very big deal and quite the perfect preparation I might add. Love making does not only involve sexual pleasure but also a happier mood and a stronger relationship in the long term. You have to naturally test the waters first to see what you both enjoy...never assume anything, especially with a new partner, or it could very well backfire on you! In order to benefit from love making both partners should derive mutual satisfaction from the act which implies both partners should reach ultimate orgasm. You should know how and when to make love in the right way and form. I've listed a few tips, but only you know how to romance your partner and make it a night of passion to remember. First of all, buy your lingerie at http://www.simplydeliciouslingerie.com/ where there are a variety of selections and discounted prices!

First of all; Set the mood. Yes set the mood....make it a night to remember! In order to make love the right way proper mood is very important. You simply can not satisfy your partner is he or she is in a negative or a bad mood. This is the major reason why some couples feel love making was absolutely awesome sometimes whereas other times it's just ordinary. Your and your partner's mood has a big role to play in love making. To keep the heavenly magic intact in love making always do it when you feel the situational moods are right. Timing is everything. Plan this wayyyy in advance. Sure you can do it on the fly if it just happens to happen, but we gals like feeling special.

Romance- Love making is all about romance and emotional attachment towards each other. Romance is extremely important to add that extra spice before you start taking your clothes off. Romance normally leads to an exceptionally better love making and you get more satisfaction each time you make love. Amen to that!

Use words- Words are a very important part of love making and should be used wisely. As is body language! My grandmother used to say that you can speak with your eyes without every having to open your mouth! The pleasure from making love doubles when you tell your partners how much you love need or want him or her. Research has shown that couples which involve more feelings and emotions in love making are known to be happier in the long term...and isn' it long term that we all desire?

Take it further- Continue the above mentioned steps and take the next step into foreplay. This is when you break out the reddi whip and rhinestone handcuffs for play time! This is the final step of proper love making which leads to eventual orgasm. Oral stimulation doubles pleasure and you can make love for several hours.

How good are you in bed? - Are you good? Don't just think that you are, you have to know that you are. Egos can get the best of some of us, but seriously, at that particular time and moment it's not good to think we are rather we have to be. Do you have what it takes to satisfy women in bed? Are they having a real orgasm? Or do they fake it?  Do you know what every woman wants bed? Ever tried to wonder what's in a woman's mind? What is she thinking about? Do you know that women do not always mean what they say? They might say something and mean the exact opposite. But what do women actually want? Good luck trying to figure us out because sometimes we don't even know what we want! Enjoy your partner, practice makes perfect!

Seductive Spiced Pumpkin... Hot Cocoa

When I think of the fall, I think of leaves changing colors, and cooler temps...I think about dad dragging us out of our warm toasty beds early Sunday mornings to go sit around a bunch of loud mouth drunks cheering for a team that I didn't even like in football, the Cleveland Browns...and then, years later... I married one. I know, who knew, right? When that wind blew off Lake Erie and you got smacked with those awful lake effect winds, it didn't matter what you were wearing...you still froze to death.

When I think of cold weather I think of the Cleveland Browns games from my childhood and being in the "Dawg Pound," ice skating at Mill Creek Park, and drinking hot cocoa. I'm not a big hot tea fan, but cocoa... yum! I found this recipe last night and wanted to share it with you...you can make it and drink it when it's a cool night...and save the Reddi Whip leftovers for the next time you want to get romantic with your partner. Consider it like a two for one usage?

I always enjoy using ingredients in more ways than one. Beside who doesn't like to multi-task? Make sure when you go to the market for these items required, that you plan ahead, and make your selection at Simply Delicious Lingerie® for a sassy, naughty piece also....this way you'll really tantalize his taste buds! It's time to step it up a notch ladies...like Def Leppard once sang "I'm hot...Sticky Sweet, From my head to my feet... Pour some sugar on me"...in your case ( squirt some Reddi Whip on me....) This is not only a great way to turn a boring cool evening into a night of seduction, but now it will be quite memorable...and to think that you were only going to make cocoa to stay warm and take the chill off?

Spiced Pumpkin Hot Cocoa

Makes 2 servings (if you halve the recipe, just use a little pinch of the nutmeg, ginger, and cloves.)
Ingredients
For the hot cocoa:
3 cups milk
1/2 cup canned pumpkin or pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
2 tablespoons Dutch process cocoa
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
2 tablespoons maple syrup
For the maple whipped cream:
1/4 cup heavy cream
2 teaspoons maple syrup
any of the following for dusting on top: cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, raw sugar

Directions
In a saucepan, whisk together the milk, pumpkin puree, cocoa, spices and syrup. Heat until steaming, and divide among two mugs.
Meanwhile, in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, or by hand using a wire whisk, whip the heavy cream with the maple syrup until it forms soft peaks.
Top the mugs of cocoa with spoonfuls of the whipped cream. Sprinkle on a little cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger and/or raw sugar if you like.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Cleveland Ohio

If you are looking for something really exciting to do where there is not only education, rather music whose lyrics told a story...and whose artists becasue pop idols in our culture...then take a trip to Cleveland, Ohio to visit the Rock & Roll Music Hall of Fame! I can't say enough about it, so just go! I'm listing some of the general views below for you so that you can see what it's going to cost you to attend. Sure you may not think that it sounds entertaining.....ahhhh but it is! Go on a date here, it's a great way to really get to know what kind of music you each like and it also allows you to learn more about this person.

How you act, appear and the type of music you listen to says a lot about "YOU!" As for me, I enjoy a mix of music. I like rock, but I loves the 70s music. There are two Radio Stations that I listen to most often in Cleveland,....100.7 Clevelands Rock Station and 106.5 The Lake! Thank you both of you for making my memories of this city inspiring! It's so good to be home, and so nice to know that Simply Delicious Lingerie can and will grow in a community where I was raised with good morals and values to respect and treat others the way you'e like to be treated. I've missed Ohio! Might I really suggest going here if you've not already?

No, this band has not made it to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but honestly....who doesn't love the Bay City Rollers?

We used to sing S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y Night all week looking forward to taking our parents car and cruising the streets with friends after high school football games. Ok, so maybe that just really dated me....but so what. I have wonderful memories of my youth and I share them with my two kids all the time. This type of music takes me back to the 70s when life was easy and we had no cares or worries...we were young and just learning what it was like to go out and have fun...Let the "Rock & Roll Hall of Fame" take you back to that well beaten path of great music history!

Check Out This New Vintage Store!

Ohhhh have I got something great for you all to check out! Over the weekend I was outlet shopping with my friends that were in town visiting me from Michigan. Since I am in Cleveland, we went to the Aurora Farms Outlets. While shopping I met a really nice woman named Kelly who happened to be working at the Michael Kors Store. She overheard me talking about Jimmy Choo as we walked in the door, she greeted us and we immediately began a conversation. We were talking business and I shared with her how I was the owner of Simply Delicious Lingerie and was launching her sister company in the late fall, Simply Luscious Lingerie. We discussed advertising, designing the websites and how exciting it was while she assisted my friends with their selections. A short while later in the conversation Kelly told me that she and her friend Elizabeth started a vintage clothing store online @ http://www.storeyhorsevintage.com/

I highly recommend you take a look at their boutique. It's a beautiful store and they have put a lot of hard work and effort into it. Lets help send some business their way?!

Here is a little bit about the company:

SHV Blog Blurb

Since inception in January of 2011, StoreyHorse Vintage strives to focus solely on the resale and distribution of quality and designer vintage clothing, jewelry, footwear and accessories. Storeyhorsevintage.com is also currently collaborating with designer Meredith Piccin of Honey Rose & K Modage Baubles, (featured in the September 2011 issue of Teen Vogue), for Fall 2011.
With Kelly Velikonya’s flair for fashion and Elizabeth Storey’s drive for perfection, it was a natural progression for the duo to collaborate and transform their favorite past time, collecting and reinventing vintage pieces, into a full-fledged endeavor, by creating a cultural connection between the consumer and their inimitable one-of-a-kind items. The intended purpose of this site is to provide a chronicle of fashion history, a wealth of all things stylish, chic and sophisticated, to those in search of owning a piece of yesteryear. “We have found people love clothing with a story,” said co-owner Elizabeth Storey. “Our ambition is to provide the timeless visionary with pieces rich in antiquity... Viva la vintage.”

From comfort, to style, to what’s hot and what’s not, the hottest trends, latest (and oldest) fashions and absolutely the most quality vintage around, storeyhorsevintage.com, has created a gathering of followers who have anxiously anticipate the arrival of this fashion-forward website!

Sex & Advertising

In the U.S. fashion and beauty industry, sexual imagery in advertising seems to be going in two
different directions: toward a more subtle sexiness that emphasizes the product, but also toward
the more brazen and provocative.

They say that sex sells and they, whoever they are, were right! Everyday I see it and it gets more and more risky. Yes, Sex still sells – and it can still shock, too. Through many lonely evenings with my computer on my lap and a good movie on the television, I spent many of hours gazing mindlessly while trying to work,.....then I began to realize that all these commercials are absolutely, completely perverted in one way or another. I'm not who spend a lot of time in front of the television at all so imagine the shock when I sat and watched some commercials that one would think might be harmless, be quite alarming!!

Time and time again I’m reminded of how faithful this theory is with continual reminders from the biggest brands. Everyone from car companies to watch makers, fast food joints to coffee brewers, have been trying to tell me something: buy our crap and think about sex. Now, this may seem obvious to some extent because a lot of companies don’t hide the fact that their logos are purely sexual. Products like condoms, lingerie, body wash, after shave, diapers, makeup, etc. Although these products are prime examples for this magnificent marketing technique, there are so many other companies that are in no direct way related to such acts of splendor, yet formulate mottoes that can easily be perceived otherwise.

So naturally....now I am left to wonder if this is due to some subliminal slang that has been discovered by advertising geniuses and ignored by the general public or merely a convenient coincidence. I found a study after I began digging into the whole "Sex Sells" concept because I am selling sex myself with the lingerie shops I own and recently wrote a similar article. What sells sex more than television is billboard advertisements. This is definitely on my list of things to do. While many say it would be a waste of my company money, I strongly disagree with them. Do people notice them? You tell me? Would you?

AAhhhhhhhh but wait.....I thought that some of those were quite provocative, and then I stumbled upon Chiquita, Ray Ban, Fed Ex and Planters.....I was shocked, and laughed at the same time.....I'd say they got their point across, wouldn't you? Yes, advertising sells the product all right..... and sex is the driver!

Karma is a Bitch!

Has there ever been a time in your life when someone literally made you feel so bad about yourself that you just wanted to crawl under a rock and never come out? I think that at one time or another, it's happened to all of us. There will come a time in your life when you feel that you need to make a stand against someone who is always condescending. Haven't you ever met that one person that just has to dig, dig, dig and make others miserable? Don't take this lying down ladies....if you do, this person will continue to taunt you for a long time....why? They think they have control, they think they are tough, and they think that it earns them respect.....My thoughts? Simply Bullshit! No one deserves to be treated with disrespect....I don't care who you are. Many times, and in most cases they are people who have a superiority complex that can be irritating and aggravating over time. They think that they know it all and other people are all below them are not at par with them - may it be in terms of looks, achievements, skills, position within the company, financial capability or educational attainment.

If you are a constant target of such condescension, a few well-chosen words can do the trick of bringing such a person a peg or two down and leave her gaping. Here are some ways to deliver classy insults. I don't mess around, just cut to the chase. My grandmother used to tell me "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer!" Lesson well learned. I was naive at one time, and I let people walk all over me. Why? I was too nice. I still am nice, however now I took a new approach to life and to those who don't know what the word "respect" means or how to use it. They say "Be Careful What You Wish For" .....those who sit on their pedestal making others suffer are bound to get stung by a bee sooner or later. I don't know why people act as such, but what I do know is that what goes around does come back around......

1. Do some snooping! You don't think that you can? Sure you can....modern technology makes it sooooooo easy for anyone to find out anything.....Check out the background of the person who thinks she is so clever that she cannot stand to be with someone of lesser stature, that is, according to her standards. It is best to know your enemy so that you can strike where it will hurt the most.

2. Work on the weakest point in the condescending person's armor. Hitt'em where it hurts! Most of the time this type of person is hiding something by presenting a different persona to the world. That 'something' is what you need to uncover!Your classy insult should be something personal that will take the focus away from you and put the person in the spot.

3. Be very knowledgeable about the subject so that your classy insults will be delivered with a big impact and do some serious damage. Go back to all the times that the condescending person has attacked you and pinpoint the areas that she attacked. Make sure that you know everything about these areas so that you will be more intelligent, credible and knowledgeable than her. Then devise clever and concise retorts that will clearly pinpoint her shortcomings.

Just remember, you are the bigger person here, and in time someone will bring her/him down to ground level, and they'll see how terrible they treated you....
They may think that they have the upper hand but it takes two to play that game. Karma.....ever heard of it?
I'd like to call this doing a little "preventative mmaintenance"......you are taking care of the issue at hand before it happens to anyone else. Take your gloves off and don't be afraid to get a little dirty.....this person didn't think twice about doing this to you!
