Fight Against Cancer- A Little Bit Goes a Long Way...

I believe in doing for others, for one day you may need someone to do something for you. For those of you whom don't know a lot about me, allow me to share with you now a little bit about myself. My name is Michele and I am a cancer survivor. I am also a sexual assault victim survivor and a single divorced mother who has had to deal with more in the last 13 years of life than many deal with in a life time. I generally keep my life private, or at least as much as I can. Some things are obviously far too hard to talk about. They say that every face tells a story and my face has many stories to tell indeed. After my divorce I weathered Melanoma Cancer on 4 occasions, along with a sexual assault that many women would not have been able to bare. I did. Why? I am as strong as an ox and I have always been determined to fight and win regardless of the given situation.

The things that have happened to me in my past have nonetheless made me the woman that I am today and taught me many lessons about life and health. The most important thing that it taught me was to NEVER EVER take anyone for granted, and to always tell those around you that you love them,...because tomorrow may not come, and you may not ever have the chance again.I have never allowed my circumstances change me. I have always been positive. I always smile, and laugh. I enjoy making those around me happy. I appreciate the little things in life, and everyday that I wake up, I feel gratified. What happened to me touched my life in a way that most cannot imagine.

I believe in listening to your gut. There has only been one time in my life that I heard my gut talking to me, but I ignored it. It was that one time that I was vulnerable and let my guard down because I was raised to trust everyone and I was a bit naive to say the least. It was that one day that changed my life forever and left me encased in a shell of fear and pain for several months. I knew that I could do two things. I could be afraid of the unknown fear and allow it to win,or I could get mad and angry and fight back. With everything in me, I chose to fight back and win. You see, the words 'no' and 'quit' are not, nor have they ever been in my vocabulary.

I am telling you this story for a few reasons; more so though because I genuinely need your cooperation with this matter. Every year I make mad donations to two organizations, and search out families, or women who have suffered and or endured some of the same pain that I have and I reach out to them. Over the years I have raised my two children to do the same. Not only do they contribute to these institutions, they get their friends and coworkers involved as well. There are a variety of organizations to donate to for cancer, nonetheless, I have a few favorites of my own.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month and I need you! By making a purchase at either Simply Delicious Lingerie or Simply Luscious Lingerie between now and December 1st, you are contributing as well. My company takes a portion of all sales proceeds and we give them to a family/families fighting cancer, a cancer organization, or to shelters for battered and abused women. These two organizations hold a very dear place in my heart and this year I want to raise more money than last year and do more for both of them.

Please, ask everyone you know to shop at either of my stores, or to host a lingerie party. If you have never shopped at our online boutiques, give us a try won't you? You may not realize how much others need your help, but they do. Most of these people especially the battered or abused women out of pride would rather not ask for assistance. These are women just like you and me that went off to work one day thinking that life was good and in a matter of minutes found themselves fighting for their lives whether it was from this deadly disease called cancer or a monster that had no conscious at all and found it OK to hurt a woman with no remorse.

Myself, like so many of you  have very little knowledge of what these people and victims go through until you become a victim yourself. It is something that stays with you always. You forgive but never forget. You ask "why me" a thousand times and still have no right answers. What happened to me over the course of the past several years has made me a much wiser woman, and a much stronger lady who is quite determined to remedy this cause. Although these were tragic situations, I grew and I fought back, and then I began fighting for others. Had it not been for so many wonderful people in my life that came to my rescue at a time that I needed it most, I would not be who I am today. It was their financial assistance that enabled me to get counseling, medical treatments, and care for my family. Please, won't you help me continue my fight by choosing my stores to shop for all of your women's intimate apparel needs so that we can send a portion of the profits to assist others in need? Halloween is right around the corner and we sell a variety of Halloween costumes. If you don't do Halloween, buy a fantasy costumes. We carry lingerie from bra and panty sets, garter sets, babydolls, corsets, satin sleepwear, shoes and accessories.

I personally know several Breast Cancer survivors as well as Melanoma survivors. I have also been touched by women all over the USA that I've met over the years whose lives were sexually violated much like mine. Although the month of April was designated for Women's Sexual Assault Victims, this is something that happens every single day to women and it should not be taken lightly. Also, the third Friday in October each year is National Mammography Day, first proclaimed by President Clinton in 1993. On this day, or throughout the month, women are encouraged to make a mammography appointment. In 2012, National Mammography Day will be celebrated on October 19. Save the Tatas and help a sister. Everything counts, and everyone matters. A little bit goes a long way... Support me in making a difference and let's collaborate together!

  1. Michele, You are always so strong and always looking to do so much for so many people. You probably do not remember me. We met a few years ago in Puerto Rico and shared a seat on the plane in our journey back home.

At the time I met you, I was in stage 3 of breast cancer and my life was upside down. I had visited my younger sister in San Juan because I did not know if I would be around next year.

You lifted me up when I was at my lowest. You gave me strength and encouraged me to fight. Your words and your laughter were all that I needed. They say that the good Lord surrounds you with people that you need in your life. You walked into my life and saved me. Thank You could never be enough for all that your words meant to me. That was a flight that I will treasure for as long as I live. What can I do to help you raise money?

    God Bless You!
