Losing Weight on Low Carbs

Everyday we wake up thinking to ourselves...how  an I get in shape and lose weight? With all of the diets to try, why are so many people leaning toward the low carb diet? There are more and more reports showing that low carb eating works. This popular diet plan, made famous by Dr Robert Atkins and others, has helped innumerable people to lose weight. But is it just like any other diet or is there a special reason why people seem to be more successful with low carb eating? Why does a low carb diet work?

There are two main reasons why low carb eating can work for people who struggle with any other kind of diet. Let's take them one by one;

1. Fewer calories - less hunger
Many people make the mistake of thinking that low carb diets are high protein diets. This is so not necessarily the case. In fact, many low carbohydrate plans advise against eating too much protein because it can stress the kidneys. So if you are not eating carbs and you are not eating much more protein than usual, where do your calories come from? The answer is fat. Low carbing is not so much high protein as a high fat diet. That may seem crazy but stay with us here and you will find it does make sense.

Eating fat is what gives us that full, satisfied feeling after a meal. If you have ever tried to eat a no-fat diet based on fruit and vegetables, you will know that you can have a huge bloated stomach and still feel that you want something more to eat - even though you could not possibly fit it in. It is fat that your body is craving.

So if you eat more fat, you can be satisfied with smaller meals (fewer calories). It may take a few minutes for the full feeling to kick in, but if you get up after your low carb meal, wash the dishes and brush your teeth, by the time you are done, you will be feeling full.
You also stay satisfied for longer. You are less likely to want to snack. Dr Atkins has a rule that people on his diet must not go more than 6 waking hours without eating in order to keep the metabolism running well. That rule is necessary because low carb eating makes us forget about food for much longer.

2. Eating fat makes the body use fat
But it is not all about calories. The second reason that low carb, high fat diets can help us to lose weight is that we get into ketosis (or lipolysis, as it is sometimes called). When the body cannot get its energy from carbohydrates, it begins to convert fat into glucose for energy.

This process uses all the fat that we eat. If we were eating a lot of carbs, it would take its energy from those and store the fat. Instead, with low carb eating we are burning it up. What is more, we also start to burn up the fat that we have stored previously. So we begin to get slimmer.

Some research has shown that people on low carb eating plans can eat considerably more calories than people on low fat diets and still lose weight. This is great news for anybody who has had trouble sticking to diets in the past. It means that you can eat large quantities of some high calorie foods like cream, butter and olive oil, and still see those pounds disappearing.

So that is why low carb diets work. First they make you feel less hungry, so you probably will eat less. Second, even on days when you eat more, you can still lose - as long as you stick with the low carb eating plan allowed foods and avoid those pesky carbohydrates.

FriEnDs ThAt YoU DoN't NeEd In yOuR LiFe...

What does friendship mean to you? I've always said that if I want to go backwards, I can do it pretty damn good by myself. We all count on our friends to bring us up when we are down, to pick us up when we fall, and to make us smile and laugh when the cloud is so dark you don't think you'll ever see the light again...Ahhh yes, these are our friends that come with no price tag, that will awaken at all hours of the night when you have  boyfriend issue. They are the ones that think nothing of hitting up the 24 hour diner for greasy burgers and the drive through liquor store to get a cheap bottle of wine or booze to sit with you and drown those relationship sorrows, a job loss, a family matter, or even an illness....They are always there to lean on, always reliable and the most dependable type of friend that you could wish or hope for. They listen, react and respond.

If only you were a genie and you could have a crystal ball so that you would be able to predict  not only the future but the reliability of your friendships with others what would it tell you? If you looked deep into the type of friendships that exist, you would be taken back to know that for so many of these so called 'friends' it's not about 'you' at all. Unfortunately, we only have a trial and error system that comes with pain, frustration and so very often.... heartache. What kind of friends do you have? For the most part, we should all have the type of friends that are there to pick up the pieces when we need them the most...but there are those that we think are our friends that are on their own self-path to destruction. These are the type of friends that will only bring you down and take the wind out of your sails. These are the type of friends that we don't need. I've listed a few types that you should be very aware of for a variety of reasons as I have listed examples.

Here are the top seven types of friends that spell TROUBLE:

1) The "Not So Party Party Pooper." Ok, now this friend is also known as The Wet Blanket or The Bubble Buster as I would call it. They seem to walk around with a huge rain cloud over their head that can darken even the brightest of days. If you've just received a promotion at work, they'll remind you of how the corporate grind will use you up and spit you out. If you found a awesome sale on a pair of Jimmy Choos they'll tell you where you could have bought them for much less. If you've fallen in love, they'll remind you of how horrible it is to be tied down like the old ball and chain. These types of friends will not share in your happiness so you might want to keep your good news to yourself. Tell me then? What the hell kind of friendship is this if you can't share your joys as well as your own ups and downs with this person?

2) The Wizard. You thought you had found your life-long best friend. Things were going great and the bond was amazing. You did everything together and then POOF, they disappeared. This "now you see them; now you don't" behavior is very hurtful as well as confusing to say the least, not to mention heart breaking. You'll question what you did wrong but you're baffled. When they suddenly reappear again, they have a new best friend.Sound familiar? You feel rejected and perhaps even a little bit jealous but quite honestly, their behavior has little to do with you. These friends are commitment phobic. They are always moving from one relationship to another. Their new best friend will be in your shoes in the near future. Tell me, is this the kind of friend that you want?

3) The Train Wreck. We all have at least one of these...I know that I do.You had no idea a person could have so many problems. This friend has you on speed dial. They will call you at all hours with problems ranging from relationship catastrophes to financial misfortune. Part of you feels sorry for this friend but another side of you is aggravated because even though they ask for your advice; they really don't want it nor do they truly listen to it. The Train Wreck is usually a very willful person who creates messes but refuses to take any responsibility, the immature one that would rather fall deep down into the state of depression or into an alcoholic stooper than get help. A great quote that I once heard was;"When you choose your friends, don't be short-changed by choosing personality over character." Remember, it is the character within each person that builds and shapes who they are and how the will reflect to others either by their personality or traits.

4) Here's a good one; The Promise Breaker. We all have one of these...I know it oh so well. You spend money for an event to do something nice for a friend, your anticipation is building throughout the week to do this fun event and then last minute they call and say "Oh hey, I can't get away" or even worse..."I have a date tonight with this new hot guy I met." What the hell? This is no friend...break your ties and say 'good riddens!' What you generally get from this type is the same old sayings...."I'll be there for sure. You can count on me. I won't let you down this time." Oh, but they do time and time again. This person makes a lot of promises but routinely breaks them or doesn't keep them at all. They are not reliable and won't be there when you need them. If you are guilty of this trust-breaking behavior, you should remember to promise only what you can deliver. Then deliver more than you promise. I like this quote from Norman Vincent Peale; "Promises are like crying babies in a theater, they should be carried out at once."

5) It's All About Me. OK, so you've just received bad news. You call your friend to tell them and gain their support. No sooner have you stated the situation to them, this friend says, "That's nice but hey...guess what happened to me today?" The "It's All About Me Friend" only wants to talk about themselves. These people are very self absorbed. This is a very one sided friendship. They only listen to you because they are waiting for their turn to speak. You'll probably get more emotional comfort from talking to your plants or your dog than calling this person.

6) The Spy/Back Stabber. These people infiltrate your life only to gain access to your assets or your information. They purposely pour on the charm to win you over. They tell you what you want to hear so that you will loosen up and spill the goods. You will notice these people ask a lot of questions and need to know everything. Their goal may be to use you to get close to someone else in your life; your boss, your sister, your dad and his connections. You'll spot these two faced deceivers by how they try to eavesdrop on your conversations and their intrusive questions to fill in the gaps of what they weren't able to overhear. These are not true friends. They are back stabbing bitches that have no room in your life whatsoever so get ride of them fast our they will only make your life miserable!

And last but not least....
7) The One Upper. You did it all, the unthinkable,...Ahhhh, but guess what, they did something even better! This friend is very competitive and has to be the best or at least have the best. They are typically overachievers. They seek attention where ever they can find it? Why? Besides the fact that they think that their shit doesn't stink, they are ruthless and have no idea what the word 'friendship' even means. They tend to build themselves up by making others feel inferior. They will often show off at your expense.True friends don't have to constantly impress each other. Friendships shouldn't be based on winning and  losing. These friends need a lot of external validation but don't realize how they aggravate others by trying to be impressive. You can spot these friends whenever you tell a story. Their version tells how they did more and were better at it than you.

What kind of friend are you? Remember that character builds who you are. Your ethics and morals, those of which you were raised with will carry on as you grow and mature and mold you into the individual that you should be. My thoughts are the same now as they were 10 years ago...Just be YOU! Learn how to be the best friend that you can be and remember, actions often speak louder than words, so keep your foot out of your mouth and be the kind of friend that is loved by many. Be the friend that is always there for someone whether you live a block away or a continent away...
I truly have been blessed by the wonderful friends that I have in my life, and I am so grateful for each and every one of them.

"Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget." ~ Unknown

Be Kind...Pass It On

Have you ever heard the saying that "the road to hell is paved with good intentions"? It's not enough to want to do good, and to try to do good...you really must also think about whether your actions actually had good result or not? Being a good person and doing good deeds comes easy to so many people, and for others,...not so much. Statistics in the past have shown how students, entertainers, athletes, philanthropists and regular people do good every day! Why? It's how they were raised and it's what they know. My parents instilled in myself and my siblings from the time we were young to be kind to others, even strangers. We went by the old rules, treat others the way you'd like to be treated. We do this because it is the right thing to do, and it makes you feel good when you do a good deed...we do it because we want to, not because we have to.

Don't try to be a good person because your parents told you to,..trust me, you're not doing anyone any favors here...Do it for you, because you want recognition or respect, or for any kind of reward except your own satisfaction in doing what you believe is good. Never act superior to anyone else or brag about your "goodness" or "righteousness". What does this mean? Allow me to repeat myself...Be good for a reason, not just because it makes you look good.

What does doing a good deed mean to you? It's not about expecting something in return. If that's what you think this article is about STOP reading right now and go take a look in the mirror because you have some issues. Ultimately, you have to decide on your own code of ethics, and what matters is that you follow through with what you believe makes you a good person. At times, this may conflict with what others believe is good, and they might even accuse you of being quite evil. Consider their views. Either they know something you don't, in which case you may learn something from them and update your morality, or perhaps their experience is limited, meaning that you should take their views with a grain of salt. You're smart, so you can make your own decision.

Give people the benefit of the doubt! To the extent that it doesn't jeopardize your safety (like getting in the car with a group of people you just met), assume each person you meet is a good person, and act likewise. If you see someone do something that you think bad, consider what they are dealing with in the context of their own life-don't jump to conclusions.

Instead of focusing on the bad things happening around you, find reasons to dwell on the good. You know that old saying...turn the bad into something good. Notice small kindnesses that you find yourself or other people doing, and constantly remind yourself of the things for which you're grateful. Feeling like you are surrounded by good acts and nice people will inspire you to do more good yourself.

Try to be more proactive! By doing so, you are avoiding any form of bad behavior, you've made a big step towards becoming a good person, but you've only just begun. In order to be good, you actually have to do good things rather than just avoid doing bad things.

What should you get from this? Learn from it! Constantly improve your understanding of what goodness means and demonstrate it to others whether it be your spouse, partner, lover, your children, friends, coworkers, or total strangers. Observe subtle or complex situations and consider just how you would act in such a position. You can also learn from your own mistakes, from others, and from history...we can always make improvements in our lives. What are you waiting for...Hop to it!

Things Men Find Attractive in Women

Choosing the right one for you...Umm, yeah, it's certainly not as easy as it's cracked up to be. I repeat myself and I don't mean to keep sounding like a broken record. Nonetheless, dating today is different than it was when I was younger. I thought it was difficult then. Imagine that times 10. I saw not all that long ago a list that men actually have in choosing the right woman. Are you for real? Dating is not supposed to be like this, not at all. There is too much pressure for heaven sakes. It's a date, not a peace treaty. Keep it real and keep it simple. This should be fun, so ease up and enjoy it.

If you are wondering what men find attractive in women, there is a very simple answer. You can easily use this information to make yourself more appealing to the average man. Having confidence in yourself is the first step. With that you might as well forget it. If you are confident, a man often tends to overlook the smaller things that bother you about your looks, etc. When you feel good about YOU, all else will fall into place. For many, it's not all about the looks, but for some, sad as it is to say, it is all about the physical appearance. My thoughts; Unless you look like a million bucks and are perfect in every way...do not expect the women to be a perfect 10. What am I saying here for you slow ones on the bus? If you aren't all that and a bag of chips, do not expect a woman to be as such.

Physically, most men find feminine characteristics attractive in a woman. This means, they like women who are obviously women. The way that this is manifest can vary according to the individual of course and also according to culture, but you do not need me to tell you that physically the average woman is a different shape from the average man.

As well as the obvious fact that women have larger breasts and hips, women also tend to have longer legs in proportion to their torsos than men, smaller feet, longer slimmer fingers, less body hair, more body fat (unfortunately), smoother skin and higher and more arched eyebrows. In most cultures, they also tend to have longer hair on the head.

So to make yourself more attractive to most men, no matter what you look like, you simply have to draw attention to or exaggerate your feminine characteristics. Here are some common ways that women do this:
  • wear high heels (makes the legs look longer)
  • shave legs and armpits (men don't want to see a real mess, that is the turn off to end all turn offs!)
  • do not be too thin. That's right...men like women with a little meat on their bones.
  • wear makeup (makes the skin look smoother) A little goes a long way, just don't look like a clown at the circus,...please!
  • pluck eyebrows from below if necessary (never from above)
  • get a new hair do!
  • smile!Men love a woman who smiles!
  • Laugh...it's good for the soul and it is contagious!
  • grow nails (makes fingers look longer) Guys love long nails
  • wear clothes and jewelry that society currently considers feminine
You probably already knew that men tend to like women who do these things! But many people are not aware of the reason why. It is simply because these things emphasize the difference between men and women.
The opposite is generally true as well. Women tend to prefer men who have broad shoulders and narrow hips, some body hair, more muscle and less fat. Thick, straight eyebrows close over the eye are usually considered attractive in a man. If you look at the pictures of models in a magazine you can see all of these factors being stressed, depending whether the model is a man or a woman. It is not all about the looks. If you are a male and only 5'6" there really is nothing you can do to become 5'11" over night. Some women like taller men. If this occurs, you need to find someone who is OK with your size.

Just the same ladies, some men only want arm candy. I hate that term, and I dislike the type of man that thinks he needs a woman to be just that. Don't be any mans arm candy, unless of course your self-esteem is so low that you don't mind him treating you like a trophy wife. Don't you deserve much better?

Hey, some people believe that men are programmed to be hunters and this is why they do not like to be chased after, but prefer to pick out a woman who is not so easy to get. Whether this is true or not, it is always more rewarding and better for the self esteem to be around people who like you and want to be with you. So there is not much point in chasing after a man who really is not interested in you. Don't do it, it's so wrong and so pathetic. The best relationships, like the best friendships, are always between two people who both like each other for who they are, not those forced into a relationship based on all that other crap.

Characteristics of personality are harder to generalize about because fortunately, for every personality type that a woman can have, there are some men who will find that attractive. We could say that women tend to be more motherly and caring than men, therefore most men will like a woman who is caring. But some men do not want kids and will run a mile from a woman who seems motherly. It happens and listen up gals,...if you date a man that you are really into and he doesn't like children and you HAVE children, walk away. He won't change and your family comes first. Others will feel smothered by a very caring attitude - they like a more independent minded woman. This seems to evolve at an early age. Isn't it time to try to break the cycle and make some changes? Looks are great and all, but if she is beautiful on the outside and a roaring bitch on the inside is that what you really want?

Ladies, if he is handsome on the outside with adorable looks, personality and great job yet is selfish and demeaning on the inside is this really what you want? It certainly is not what you deserve. The good news is that the pool of men and woman is abundantly large, so keep looking if you haven't found the right fit for you yet.

Men...What They Really Want in Relationships?

Just when you think that you've heard EVERY lame excuse that a man could us to try get to know you better,...they open their mouth and out pops a bunch of crap that you weren't expecting at all. Remember, I've heard it all and nothing generally surprises me, HOWEVER...what if a man told you that he wanted to get to know you, wanted to take you out to play 18 holes to see if you 'clicked' but told you that you had to dress ultra sexy? What if we women have to dress up for work or business day in and day out and prefer dressing down or just being themselves sometimes? Then what? God forbid we don't have all of our makeup on and we don't look like the goddess on his arm at the country club or where ever?!!?? Are they serious or are they just simply testing us to see if we would go the extra distance to look sexy 'just for them?'

I decided to dig more on topics related to men, and what it is that makes them tick. What do they really want from us? First at hand what that I wondered...and most women do; What motivates men?  What is it that men want?  In particular, what is it they want from women?  Did you know that Sigmund Freud tried to sort out men's desires by pointing to three divisions within the mind, the id, the ego, and the superego, all of which may want different things?  yes, but Freud seemed to believe that what really motivated men was the libido-- essentially, sexual desire.

What I have learned over the years and after a lot of research is that this is a great mistake.  What men want, deep down, is not unlimited promiscuous sex but something rather different.  What men really want is to win the love of a princess (or of a girl who deserves to be a princess), to fight against great obstacles, to deliver her from dragons or a wicked witch of a stepmother or some other great danger, to marry her, and to live happily ever after.
This is the universal fairy tale...oh but most often they don't want us to know that they feel this way....and here women thought that only we wanted the fairy tale?

Maybe he’s cocky, but he’s still insecure. Guys need to know that they’re respected and appreciated just like we do. When being around you increases a guy’s esteem, both internally and in the eyes of others, he’ll naturally want to be attached to you. What about Love? How do men feel about love and relationships?

What men want in relationships

Men crave unconditional love

When they screw up, boy do they know they screwed up. Sometimes it is hard for guys to admit that they’re wrong, but they are harder on themselves than anyone else would ever be. Unconditional love means that they have someone who will love them and be there for them in the best and the worst of times. When you have someone that loves you unconditionally, it is the greatest feeling in the world.

What men want in relationships

 Complete trust

Men want a woman they can trust no matter what, and they just want to be trusted in return. Nothing is more of a turn off than being accused of cheating or being questioned unreasonably about what took so long to get home. On the other hand, if a guy is unable to trust his girlfriend, he will quickly be looking to move on; worrying about whether their girlfriend can be trusted or not is time-consuming and stressful.

men want 'man time' in relationships

Adequate time & space to do what they want to do.

Guys need some time to be alone, as well as time to spend with his friends or hobbies. Keeping a man from doing the things that he loves is the best way to push him away. Of course, there needs to be some balance between the girlfriend and other friends; too much of anything is never a good thing. Simply put, men want to be able to have time with you and still be able to see their friends without feeling bad about it.

Men and Sexy Six Packs...

While men desire women in sexy lingerie, there are a few things that make women say "Ohhh-la-la!" Yup, I'm talking about sexy pecs and a hottie six pack. Every man wants them but they don't come about over night. They take hours and long days at the gym trying to acquire this. The secret to success is enticing and alluring enough to make men work hard to achieve the long term goal of a perfect six pack! Find me a woman that doesn't love a man with nice pecs and a six pack and I'll eat my hat. Every woman finds a man sexy that has a body that is physically fit and stunning. While they are working hard to achieve this, we are gawking at them with drool coming out of our mouths and all choked up, we realize that they look amazing... these six packs that man have and we women adore!

The secret to six-pack abs is not just about the abdominal exercises that a person chooses, but is also about the food that an individual puts into his or her body. The first step to six-pack abs is to choose the right exercises for an overall abdominal workout. There are six different kinds of abdominal muscles in the human body. Many people do not know that abdominal muscles run from the ribs all the way down to the pelvic bone! Not only is it important to exercise the abdominals to look good, but it is important in helping overall posture and injury prevention. Abdominal muscles can be worked each day because they are very difficult to fatigue. There are many articles that suggest the abs can only be worked 3 to 5 days out of the week, but this isn't true. These muscles are one of the only set of muscles that can be worked each and every day and will help to strengthen the overall body.

So, what are the best exercises to strengthen abdominal muscles? Believe it or not, an exercise ball is one of the best ways to work most abdominal muscles depending upon the exercises that are chosen. With the purchase of an exercise ball, there are generally videos or written guides that show abdominal exercises and their targeted areas.
If you are a member of a gym, look for the captain’s chair in order to gain one of the best abdominal workouts. This is usually a piece of equipment that an individual steps up into, holds onto two bars at his or her sides, and completes a set of leg raises. Variations of leg raises can work different portions of the abdominal muscles.

Lastly, some of the best abdominal workouts are ones that you can do at home with a floor mat. Lying with your back to the floor and your legs in the air, place your hands behind your head and make a bicycling motion with your legs. This exercise is one of the best to improve the strength and tone of abdominal muscles and simultaneously helps to improve posture. Not only is an appropriate exercise routine necessary for improving abdominal muscles, but a correct diet is absolutely essential. Most of the time, good nutrition can make the difference between whether or not someone can have a six pack.

What this generally translates to for gym enthusiasts is that they must maintain a diet that is void of carbohydrates and fats; but this is not the answer! Eating foods that contain B5 (i.e. natural peanut butter) or taking a supplement containing the vitamin can help to reduce cortisol levels in the body.
Fish or other foods that contain Omega-3 are also important to good nutrition and a healthy body. Omega-3 is important for providing energy, sustaining a high metabolism, and reducing sugars in the body. If these foods are not available to you, it is important to supplement Omega-3 in your diet. Omega-3 is found in fish oil, which can be purchased from almost any store that sells vitamins and supplements.

Lastly, eating fruits and vegetables (especially grapefruit) can have a significant effect on weight loss and reducing the level of fat on the human body. Because fruits and vegetables are mostly water and contain high amounts of minerals and vitamins, they are absolutely necessary for reducing weight and helping to maintain the natural sugar levels in the body.

Hey guys, it may be very difficult to change the manner in which you eat, but it is absolutely essential if you want six-pack abs. Those that choose to change their diets tend to find that good eating habits become easier over time. It takes at least a month to change a habit fully; and if an individual truly wants to see results with their body, they must at least commit to one month of eating right each and every day. Those that have changed their diets say that their palate for food usually also changes after a couple weeks. Those items that once tasted fantastic (i.e. chocolate, ice cream, and cookies) generally do not taste as good given enough time away from them. Cut out the junk and you'll be on your way to a happier more fit YOU!

Here's My 2 Cents on Fashion No-No's

I would definitely be the first person to openly and quite rudely admit that there is absolutely NO  exception to fashion rules.  I believe that creating a look that expresses your own awesome and most spectacular personal style would be OK, but even that can exceed it's limits, and you do NOT want to go down that road ladies. So lets talk turkey for a few moments shall we? Fashion no-no’s, with no questions asked, hands down fall into a league all their own. You just don't do it. No way, no how...get rid of the ugly clothes. Burn them please don't give them away, no one wants to drive down the street and see them on someone else!

95% of the time universally speaking we find an outfit that is totally unflattering that we might not think is so bad after all. But guess what, it is! Do women not know this outfit would be burned by the fashion police? Do women just get dressed in the morning thinking that this is cool, or are they out in left field somewhere not able to relate to fashion at all? I, for one, know of no woman who wakes up each morning thinking, “Why don’t I put something on today that looks dreadfully shitty?” It just doesn't happen, but there is that other 5% that lives on another planet that thinks that what they've selected to wear today is quite hip and cool! The cold hard truth is that they couldn't be more wrong. Lookie here..., colors clash and so do various patterns, and no one want to go into work or  to meet a group of friends for lunch looking like Rainbow Brite...so leave the multi-colored outfits in the closet with the unicorn.

Why are there so many fashion no-no’s floating around out there?  And, now really, think very carefully…have you experienced one yourself? I have, when I was younger for Halloween and that was even scary. People really do dress goofy in public. There are a ton of reasons why these no-no’s are so pervasive.  Let me briefly share a few.

Are You Trying to Hide Your Body? Women are given messages all the time about what the “perfect” body should look like, and when they don’t feel like the body measures up, they just try to hide as much of it as possible. Sad that this is the way things are, and even worse that women have to feel poorly about themselves because of a few people with bitchy attitudes that think they can set the standards. This has become so over-simplified, but body image issues are rampant in our society today and it's all about looks. What happened to personality, integrity, and character? Just ask any woman how she feels about her body and 9 times out of 10 you’ll hear a barrage of self-critical comments about parts of her body she’s unhappy with rather than loving, glowing comments that bring a smile to her face.

Unconscious Decision Making with Wardrobe: For a dozen or so reasons, so many women have given up trying to create a wardrobe and personal style they love. My question is this; Who in the world taught some of these people how to dress in the first place? Often women will resort to what is comfortable and easy and "not horrible." I hear this one so often...  As a result, they have given up on their beauty (some have no idea they even have any natural beauty and oh if they really would only take a good hard look at themselves they would see that they have so much beauty and potential.) These women just want to blend in and cover their body so that they don't get taunted and teased by others.

Comfort is Cost Effective: I don't know about you but it seems that our lives tend to get crazy and if you add the fact that as we get older we tend to get less tolerant of clothing that doesn’t feel good personal style often goes out the window in lieu of endlessly cozy options. Cost effective has nothing to do with dressing horrible. Cozy is great and all but think before you walk out the door in something hideous. If you don't know what I am talking about come to Youngstown, Ohio and go with me to Walmart after 11pm. Where are the fashion police when you need them? Yes comfort is great, but think about style and flair and fashion when you are trying to put together an outfit for the day. I think the  problem here is that we become very narrow minded about what is comfortable (polar fleece and yoga clothes top the list next to Pajama bottoms and big baggy sweatshirts, seriously? Are you going to wear scrunchies in your hair too?) when, in fact, there are surprisingly fashionable comfortable clothes out there – but that’s for another article on another day!

So listen here's the 4-1-1.... Have you ever gone to a business dinner and wondered, “what was going through their head when they came up with that outfit?” It’s good to know some etiquette about expected attire, not because you need to be a stickler for rules, but more because you don’t want to offend everyone around you. No short short skirts and dresses. We don't want boobs hanging out so don't wear your daughters dress that came from the junior department, and for heaven sakes no hoo-hah hanging out of your dress either. Have some dignity and respect for yourself, please! Think before you dress. You don't need to spend a lot of cash on clothes, you can get great values and sales on really nice looking attire if you just take the time to look!Go back to the basics, get old fashion and dress in an appropriate manner.

Wine...A Glass a Day Keeps the Doctor Away!

When it comes to experience, what drink is more culturally relevant than wine?  It is the drink of celebration and ceremony, often seen to promote gracious living. At first, as written in a recent article that I read, wine was considered a gift from the gods, however, wine has long been considered a drink of choice for the elite. Yet today (as throughout the ages) in impoverished countries where it is unsafe to drink the water, people can safely drink cheap wine. What's wrong with this picture? Absolutely nothing, in my opinion that is. Wine has also been used throughout history for its medical purposes. When it comes to drinking it and especially choosing it, make certain that you know your wines, otherwise, you won't know what to expect and this goes for the history or wines, knowing the differences between the reds and the whites, the sweet wines and the dry wines, the latest and the most vintage, how to drink it properly and get the real sultry savored blend, and most of all the price.

Believe me when I say this....with wines, there is a difference. How do I know? I grew up on Boone's Farm (please do not judge me...eighty eight cents a bottle- back in the day, and I won't say when back in the day.., but by the price per bottle, you do the math)  and now I fancy Frog's Leap from Napa Valley. My favorite? I have many, but a favorite might just be a bottle of 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon  ($74 a bottle) when indulging in a wonderful pasta dinner, nonetheless, I love wineries and tasting new wines to broaden my span of selections. Wine doesn't have to be expensive to like it. You drink it to enjoy it. Always drink in moderation. Some wines give me a headache the size of Texas, so for me I have to really be careful what I consume.

Here are some tips to help you grow with the wine you are drinking;

All wine should be poured into a clear glass and held in front of a white back ground, so that you can examine the color. The color of wines varies greatly, even with the same type of wine. White wines vary from light green to brownish in color, where a browner tinge usually indicates age and more flavor. Red wines on the other had tend to become lighter in color as they age. While red wine improves with age, aging tends to ruin many whites.

Before you take a drink of wine, swish your glass around to release the different flavors in it, and take a smell of it. Research has shown that taste relies on smell about 70-75%; which is why you cannot taste much when you have a cold. When you take the time to sniff your wine, you are allowing your taste buds to better pick up subtle hints of flavor in the wine. You can smell wine two different ways. You can either take a quick sniff and then sit back to think about the first impression the wine gave you and then take a longer, deeper smell before allowing the smell to make an impression and taking a swig. Or you can just take the deep smell. Usually this depends on the persons preference, so you should try both to see which you prefer. However, you should never attempt to drink a wine before you have taken a long sniff and allowed your senses to take it in.

In moderation, wine offers a wide array of health benefits: antioxidants in red wine have been found to reduce blood clots; wine is good for the circulatory system and slows the aging process; and wine is also a mild tranquilizer that can lower tension and anxiety. Many human pathogens are inhibited or killed off by the acids and alcohol in wine. As part of a normal diet, wine provides the body with energy, substances that help digestion, and trace amounts of minerals and vitamins. Compounds in red grapes are also proven to boost the immune system and help to prevent cancer. They say that a glass or two of wine a day keeps the doctor away.

When you take a sip of wine, allow it to linger on your taste buds while swishing it around the entirety of your mouth, (that's right, no gulping or chugging this isn't college and we aren't in a race to see who finishes it first) allowing it to come in contact with all of your taste buds, including ones found on the underside of your tongue. Contrary to what some of us learned in school, all taste buds are capable of detecting all types of flavors, including sweet, sour, bitter and salty. Sipping your wine slowly this way will allow your taste buds, as well as your sense of smell to identify the finer points that are not as easily detected in fine wines.

Your first swig will be the initial sense you get from the wine, this will awaken your taste buds and get them going. Now is when you should swish the wine around your mouth, and try to draw in a little air. Try to notice the body of the wine, for example, is it smooth and rich, or light and smooth? Before you take another sip of wine, relax and see how the after taste is. How long did the flavor of the wine stay in your mouth, and was it a pleasant experience? Many wine connoisseurs take this art very seriously, and many guides and books can be purchased as you become more and more experienced in the fine art of wine tasting. The art of drinking wine is established with family and friends. We drink it in our homes and out on the town, in restaurants, at parties, so remember..when you are out and about drinking wine you want to look classy, not trashy. No one wants to drag a lush around that's had one too many and didn't know when to stop.

Dieting and the Struggles of Weight Loss...

Day in and day out both men and women struggle with their food intake and watching what they eat... Does it seem like you're constantly on a diet? If so, you're not alone! You may be quite surprised at how many people feel the same way. These weight loss tips for the frequent dieter may be what you've needed to finally make the dieting roller coaster stop so you can get off. Life is meant to enjoy it...not worry on a constant basis as to if you gained a few pounds here or there.

You may have had some success at losing weight, only to gain it back later... Let's face it, it gets discouraging when you hear that most dieters will regain the weight they've lost within three to five years, and some people gain it back even sooner than that. With those kinds of odds against you, you may wonder why you even bother? The reasons you keep trying to lose weight may vary. You know you need to lose weight to improve your overall health or reduce symptoms of disease. You can't fit into your clothes or you have a reunion to attend. This may sound totally off the wall to some of you but for me; mine was always that if I was going on an all inclusive trip and if I paid that much for the trip, I was damn well going to eat that much worth of food...yup, I was determined to get my monies worth. Crazy...yes, but I lost 10 lbs each time I traveled to consume the amount of food that I knew I would in a matter of 5-10 days.

Those fad diets work for a quick fix, but what I learned long term was that in the future, my body would eventually gain more weight doing this and that as I aged it was now getting more and more difficult to take it off so quickly. For many of you, there could be any number of other reasons why you gain weight after losing it. Regardless of why you want to slim down or how many times you've dieted in the past, if you want to succeed at losing weight once and for all, you may be better served by following the example of those who've achieved their goal and kept the weight off.

Effective weight loss tactics for those who've succeeded include these techniques:

1. Look at weight loss as a life change rather than the means to a particular end. You're not merely losing weight; you're making a commitment to change your eating and exercise habits so your health and life can improve. In the long run, you will feel so much better about life and yourself!

2. Learn all you can about food, the nutrients needed by the human body, and how to provide your body with the fuel it needs, rather than overfilling it with foods that will make it sluggish and unhealthy. This is probably the most important factor. TO lose weight you have to know both your body as well as the foods you are putting into it in order for it to be effective!

3. Learn to work through frustrations, loss, and stress without turning to food. JUST SAY NO! In many cases, those successful former constant dieters have turned to exercise as a means to release the stresses that often cause people to resort to their old eating habits.

4. Recognize when your body is truly hungry. Discover how to recognize your body's signals to stop eating when you've had enough, rather than continuing to eat until you're stuffed.

5. Focus on your health and fitness, instead of dieting to look good. Instead of dieting for a short term goal - getting into a bikini or looking great for a class reunion - be more concerned about how the foods you eat affect your health.

6. Learn to recognize proper portion sizes. Eating correct portion sizes will allow you to eat only the amount of food your body needs. No one needs a mountain of food in front of them. We aren't bears, and we're not hibernating all winter, so don't stuff your face like you are!

7. Acknowledge only temporary failure when you blow it. Hey listen,no one is perfect, so we cheat sometimes,..it happens. Rather than giving up when you've eaten too much, decide to start again the next day and work harder at controlling your appetite with the right foods, not all the wrong ones.

8. Seek and allow support from others. Getting a mentor who's a weight loss success, joining a support group, or including a friend to hold you to your goals will help spur you on to success. hey, everyone needs a little encouragement or inspiration! These weight loss tips for constant dieters are given with the hopes that you can finally find the ideas that will allow you to break the dieting cycle. You don't have to be one of the many dieters who've failed. You can learn how to make changes in your eating habits to make the weight leave for good. Take your time, learn what your body needs, and then provide the nutrients and exercise to become healthy and happy. Surround yourself with healthy fruits and veggies!

5 Highest Ranked Male Enhancement Procedures...

Believe it or not, some of you ladies may be shocked to hear this, but I must tell you... it is true. We always think that it is the woman who wants to enhance her looks and shape, but guess what? Guys are known to want to feel better about their looks just as much as women do. The reason that guys go for cosmetic surgery is because they believe that if they look better, they will feel better about themselves, just as women would who have a similar surgery. They also will feel better able to succeed on the job market, or feel desirable enough for a woman to marry. They will also feel more confident after surgery when trying to please a woman in the bedroom. Therefore, if you are a lady who is questioning your man’s intentions of receiving cosmetic surgery, do not worry. It has more to do with his personal self-image than it does with you, or trying to replace you. I've listed the top reasons that men go under the knife.

The top five cosmetic procedures that guys go for are as follows:

Hair loss or hair replacement procedures: Most guys 45 years and older tend to feel self conscious about losing hair. Therefore, they may decide to get a hair transplant, scalp reduction, or flap rotation. The hair transplant is by far the most popular way for a guy to be rid of bald spots. This procedure involves removing hair from a more dense area on the scalp to a less dense area on the scalp, concealing the patients baldness. This can involve less pain and shorter recovery time than the scalp reduction or flap rotation techniques, and does not require removal and/or transplants of parts of the scalp.

Manicures: Believe it or not, ladies are not the only one who like their fingernails (and in some cases, toenails) to look clean and sophisticated. Many guys have had their nails filed, shined, buffed and clear painted, just like some ladies have done. They even have had there cuticles removed. The only difference is that a guy's fingernails still tend to be shorter than a lady's in most cases.

Chest Enlargement: Some ladies who read this may say to themselves, what!? I know that I sure did...but, even though modern day society is more forgiving of men who have flawed bodies than women are, guys will admit they feel just as self conscious about their chests, as women do about their breasts. Therefore, they will decide to get solid silicone implants placed under the chest to enhance the bulk and protection of the chest muscles.

One thing a person should know about this type of surgery: A person who gets a chest implant enlargement surgery is able to work-out up until the surgery, but then should not engage in any heavy activity for three weeks after surgery. This procedure is most likely more safe for a man than steroids or other muscle enlarging drugs. Therefore, be careful before and after this surgery if you are the one whom the surgery is being performed.

Liposuction: Believe it or not, more and more men are becoming conscious about dieting and weight gain. Some men will also go as far as having a liposuction procedure done to remove fat. The amount of men getting a liposuction procedure to improve the shape of their bodies has tripled since 1992. The fact remains that more men want to look good too, and be healthy just like women do.
Also, even though liposuction in itself is not a mandatory surgery that can save someone’s life, it does have an effect on a man’s health. A person who receives liposuction treatments is likely to have less fat content on that person’s body, reducing risk of heart disease, diabetes, back problems, or other complications.

Penis enlargement surgery: No matter how much the ladies try to tell their guys that "it's not the size of the ship, but the motion of the ocean that matters", (and I really hate to disappoint some of you, but size does matter,...I don't care if the waves are ten feet high...I say; motion of the ocean my ass) so with this being said, many guys still opt to have this surgery done. If it is not for the women in their lives, men choose to have this done to enhance their own personal self esteem. Two different surgeries are usually performed on the penis during this genital enlargement procedure. One is to enlarge the girth of the penis, and the other is to enlarge the length of the penis. Both of these procedures together provide for correct organ proportion.

Now, to ladies reading this, don't be too surprised. Men have a thing called an ego, which is similar to our need for acceptance, and they want to look good to. Therefore, don't be shocked when a guy says to you that they want to get cosmetic surgery. The best thing to do is support your man through this, and think of the end result.
You could end up with a whole new man in your life afterwards. Chances are he may treat you better, because he feels better himself. He may even be more willing to take on a long term relationship.
The reason why this is, guys often are not concerned about being with someone other than the woman they are with. Rather, they are concerned about being able to be attractive enough for that woman, and of course, they do not mind the occasional flirt, as women do, from an attractive stranger that can add a smile to one’s face. Therefore, for all practical purposes, a man will often have a cosmetic surgery procedure, just as a lady would and those numbers are increasing. Hey, they want to look and feel sexy too! Men love attention yes, but like us, they want to feel perfected just the same.

Truths About Online Dating

Online dating is a difficult thing to tackle, if you don't believe me, how 'bout you try it? So what happens? I'll tell you...you’re faced with the challenge of putting all of your personal details into a predesigned format (profile) for others to pursue, judge and decide whether they wish to talk to you based on that one page of information. One page, did you hear that? How can anyone possibly form an opinion on someone based on one page? That's ludicrous. So, what should you do to ensure that your online dating profile gets a lot of hits,...and how will you find someone you are compatible with?

The first thing you want to do is choose a photograph of yourself. Some online dating sites allow only one photo while others let you have a few images. Either way the main picture you put on the site should be a head shot.  You want potential dates to be able to see your face first and foremost. If you are allowed to add other photos a fully clothed full body shot that isn’t from 100 feet away is a good choice, as well as a candid image of you laughing or otherwise caught off guard. Your pictures should have been taken within the past 6 months or sooner if you’ve drastically changed your look in the past 6 months. Pleaseeeeeee, no photos that are 20 years old ok? Make it recent. Don't waste someones time with white lies, in the end the truth does surface. Do you really think that they won't notice extra weight or a difference in your appearance?

Your ‘Likes and Dislikes’ list should include the things that are absolute deal breakers for you when it comes to dating. For example: Likes- Honesty, Humor, Health Conscious, Vegetarian. Dislikes- Smoking, Obesity, Eating Meat, Liars. Keeping these areas balanced and even allows you to make the point on certain unwavering areas at a glance.

When the questionnaire asks what you are looking for don’t go on and on about your dream wedding, how many children you want, where your first fate should be, and where you want to live for the next 50 years... Try answering the question as it pertains to the near future. You want someone that you have things in common with to talk to, go out with and get to know better. What happens down the road will be something you can find out together. Your online dating profile is similar to blind date chit chat. Keep it simple, and see where you want to go from there.

Your online dating profile is truly your first impression on the potential dates that are out there looking for the same thing you are. Taking the time to be honest! Be yourself, what's not to love? Still not sure what the 'rules' are? Allow me to inform you;

Online Dating Rules
  • Always let them come to you, don't chase them via email.
  • Block anyone who annoys you instantly. You do not have to tolerate whack jobs.
  • Post the best photo you can find, and a recent one.
  • Don't reply to instant messages with clever opening lines.
  • Remain aloof and let yourself be chased.
  • Always reply to emails at least 3 days after receipt.
  • BIG NO-NO…Never provide your real email or phone details.
  • Always date safely and protect yourself at every turn.
  • Make sure your login name is stunning and sexy, as well as enigmatic.
  • Do not login for hours on end. Short, rapid visits are best.
  • Do not assume the person you are talking to is destitute or sad.
  • Never ever reply to emails on weekends. Wait until a weekday.
  • Never state how good your sexual performance is in your profile.
  • If you don't want to date married men, spell it out in your profile, but even then there are those men who will still lie, or bend the truth.
  • A man who doesn't reply to your email within 3 days should be ignored.
  • Make sure your humor levels come across in text.
  • Do not chat to hundreds of men at once. The delay in replying is a dead giveaway and your Mr. Right will be off.
  • Don't even think about misrepresenting your size or description. They will find out.
  • You can only come across so cool and sophisticated, my suggestion, for best results, but more importantly… just be yourself.
Ladies, always remember that you are a sexy, desirable woman and the world is your oyster. Always let men do the chasing and always allow yourself to be the chooser. Always stay safe and never risk yourself for the sake of attending a date. Always use a safe dating website and you might just meet the man of your dreams.
