A Real Life Cinderella Story....

Some might say that a new pair of shoes is all that you need to feel like a true Cinderella...some say that  there is no such thing as love at first sight, or paths crossing at the right time. I beg to differ. I believe that fate is something that no one can predict. I believe that things happen for a reason, and that two people meet because they are supposed to. We read fairy tales and hear stories about true love such as Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, and others... but how often do you hear of stories in real life that make the hair on the back of your neck stand up because it is such a magical story?

Today I was working my part time gig at a well known candle company. It was our Halloween Preview Party and I got to play the role of the Fairy Godmother. Each year the stores choose what they are going to dress up as and after last year when we were all superheroes we decided on Disney Princesses! They young ladies that I work with make my job exciting and fun! I love people and I love the chit-chat. I make more new friends and people would tell you that I am a social butterfly.

To those who do not know me, they will generally ask me what I do and what it is that I love?
Besides running my two online lingerie businesses, this job at the candle store allows me to mingle with guests, share product knowledge, sell, sell, sell, and learn about my customers on a personal level. Every now and again I hear a story that I absolutely must share.

Today a woman walked in chuckling because I was dressed up in costume. She looked at me and said "Ok, I'll bite, whats the deal with the costumes?" I explained that today was our Halloween Preview Party and that we were all Disney Princesses as I pointed out Snow White, Cinderella, Princess Jasmine, and Ariel (The Little Mermaid.)  I told her that I was the Fairy Godmother and asked if I could Bibbity-Bobbity-Boo her a fairy tale come true such as sending her a prince charming? She looked at me and laughed and said 'Boy do I have a story for you, and you bet you can work your magic on me!'

When this woman was 18 she took a trip to Mexico. Her flight was delayed and she ended up missing this flight and having to find another one. On this particular flight she found her seat and as she was putting her things in the overhead when a very handsome man behind her smiled at her. She was intrigued by him immediately. They ended up talking on the plane and spending time together in Mexico. After that they kept in touch and dated long distance for over 2 years. He proposed! She said YES! Then a few weeks before the wedding she got cold feet and backed out leaving him heart broken and alone. She was afraid to move so far away as he was from Mexico.

A few weeks ago this woman was on Facebook and happened to find this gentleman's sister, was it a fluke? She immediately sent a friend request and the woman accepted it. She then asked how this man was after 30+ years? It turns out that he had married and then divorced. This woman was married and now divorced too! They both lived separate lives and had families of their own. This man though after all these years still thought about this woman. His sister invited this woman to Mexico to a family wedding where she is going to fly to see her prince after 30 years to see if they can reconnect. She asked me if I believed in second chances? I say YES! I believe in destiny and fate. She was in tears talking about this and I stood there with my mouth wide open in an intense conversation with her. I begged her to come back into the store in October and share with me how the trip goes?

The moral of the story is this; dreams do come true. Fairy tales are our own realities, and life is short so if you are lucky enough to find love, chase it, follow it and grab hold of it! We all have a little Cinderella inside of us and there is a fairy godmother called 'fate' watching over us! My grandmother used to say that patience is a virtue and that you'll find true love when you are least expecting it. It's all about believing....and finding someone, like a pair of shoes that is the perfect fit!

Is it LOVE? How Will I know...

If you're wondering if he really loves you, your next question should be: Why are you asking? Is there a nagging feeling inside that makes you doubt his true feelings? Don't be too quick to want love...let it flow natural and come to you. Sometimes we women are in too big of a hurry to hear those magical words "I Love You"...but why? The answer is important because no matter how many times a man says those words, you have to take the time to reflect on whether you're feeling the emotion behind them. Listen, I know men and saying that they love someone doesn't come easy...so when they do say it to you ladies, don't be a schmuck and ruin the moment!

Lets face the facts, men and women are programmed a little different. This means that you should look at your relationship at a different angle. Men and women have a different language.
Men will show affection by doing things for you. Women are more of the verbal creatures. When there is not enough conversation going on in a relationship, it often makes the woman feel like she is not loved.Women are always wondering if their man really loves them. Women strive to find out by asking friends and making constant judgments about how their man feels.

Then the question of the day as Whitney Houston not so long ago sang is "How Will I know If He Really Loves Me?" Quite honestly, much energy and time is spent wondering that many of these women have trouble enjoying their relationship. I have come up with some tips on how you can identify the signs that a man really loves you. He has eyes only for you. You can tell if your man really loves you when many beautiful and sexy women surround you but he doesn't take a second to even stare at any of them. He gives you his full attention by showing eye contact and facing his body towards you. He calls you frequently. Hello? What else do you need? Ok, you want more...here you go...

He wants to go places and do things. The relationship is not all about sex. He wants to explore the world with you and do fun activities. He spends money on you. He invests not only emotionally but also financially. You are a special and serious person in his life. Money means no object when it comes to you. His mission is not only for a role in the hay but to make you feel happy. He shows good manners. He wants to impress you and win your heart just as you have won his heart. He wants to date only you. Now, that may not mean that he is totally head over heels for you...BUT it says that he cares enough to get to know you much more and doesn't want to see other women!(take this as a sign ladies.) Do you still need more?

Here are 3 ways to help you know if he truly does love you:
  1. He makes you feel special. This is one of the most important ingredients in any love relationship. There are hundreds of things that the man you're with can do to show you you're the special woman in his life. It may be how he pays attention to your feelings and shows concern for your well being; or his willingness to go out of his way to do something that will make you happy. It's a sense that he has chosen you to be the most important person in his life. Feeling special to a man is just that, a feeling. You either feel it with him or you don't.
  2. He doesn't try to change you. This is KEY! So pay attention closely...no man should ever try to change a woman, and vica versa. This doesn't always show up in the early honeymoon phase of a relationship. A man, when he's unsure about his feelings for you, will begin to find things he wants to change about you. But love and judgment can't occupy the same space. Trying to get someone to behave the way you want them to leaves little room for love. If you're not "living up" to his expectations of you then you're not the person he's looking for. He can't change you into the woman he wants and you don't need to be fixed. If a man appreciates the totality of who you are and enjoys finding out more and more about you as time goes by, that's really honest to good true love!
  3. He trusts you with his feelings. Without intimacy there is no love. Intimacy is the ability to let someone see that part of you that you don't share with the world. It's one of the primary needs that a strong love relationship fulfills. We all crave having a special someone with whom we can safely share some of our most secret thoughts and feelings. Women are more practiced at this then men and it comes easier to us. But men need a woman they can open up to -- and not be judged as weak or wrong. A man needs to open up to you and share that part of himself that no one else sees, that gives love depth and meaning.

Happy couples are not at all hard to spot...why? Just look at them, it shows in the smiles, their touche, their embrace, and they're body language!

Where do Men find Love?

So, you’re on the prowl for a nice, fun loving, cute woman to date? Are you ready for love and if so,...Where are you going to find her? Have you any clues where to look for a truly unique woman? My guess would be no. When it comes to finding women to date, you have to be a bit creative and look for opportunities wherever they might arise. Sometimes guys get lucky and are introduced to nice women that could be potentials indeed through friends or business associates. When this happens it has a better chance of working because someone actually knows this person that you are interested in and they can give you the 4-1-1. This is your chance to get the 'inside scoop' on what she's all about!

Even though you might end up not liking the woman, people who know you have a pretty good idea of your personality and who might be a good fit, so if someone tries to play Cupid and fix you up with someone they know, at least give it a shot. The worst that could happen is that you won’t like each other and you'll want to kill your friend. I've done this before and been mad as heck at my friends. Hey. they are trying to play connect the dots for you, only my advice again, not professional is don't meddle in their business. Some say no harm done...I say 'then you try it and see how you like it?' I have had friends set me up with three blind dates in my life and by the end of the date, if that's what you wanted to call it I had fire coming out of my ears and was upset. I'll find love at my own pace thank you...when the right guy is supposed to enter into my life, he will, and only then it will be a great day for me!

On the flip side, and the best cast scenario,...you could meet someone who you really do enjoy being around.
Don’t forget the opportunities that sound more like a sitcom side-story, like meeting a woman at the coffee house while waiting for your morning brew, or at the Laundromat, the grocery store, the gym or in line at the bank. The places to meet the right person are endless. I truly believe that our paths cross at the right times when we are to meet one another. It's pretty simple actually.

If you see someone you think is attractive, just smile and say, “hi there!” Who cares if you’re dripping with sweat from your workout or wearing your best business suit? In sneakers or in stilettos. If a woman strikes up a conversation with you, don’t shy away – talk to her. It could turn into something, and if it doesn’t, you got yourself a little practice didn't you?

Depending on the type of work you do for a living, you may have many opportunities to meet women through your job. Some companies frown on dating among their employees, but some might tell you that there’s no harm in flirting a little, and if you’re not risking your job, you may find that there are plenty of single women at work. OK, time to slam on the brakes here for a second...I strongly disagree with that...don't cross that line! Once you do, they want more, and if things don't work out, as I said in an earlier blog, you are stuck day in and day out running into this person. Not fun at all, trust me!

What does a man really need to look for in a woman? A pretty smile and beautiful eyes are the two things that if men aren't looking at they sure should be! You can tell a lot about a woman from her eyes and her smile. My grandmother used to say that when there is romance in the air between two people that you can speak an entire conversation without ever having to open your mouth. Body language and the eyes give it away! That's one of the first things that I look for in a man, his eyes, then the smile...and his teeth. 1) he must still have most of them, and 2) they have to be pretty and white. I don't have a lot of issues but smile and eyes, good teeth are crucial here. Them comes the personality and sense of humor. Combined all of these will leave you wishing that you didn't have to leave her at the end of a date, BUT it will hopefully keep you enticed enough to come back for much more! When it is time for Mr Right to meet Ms Right, the sparks will fly!
