From the day we are born, and from the time that we begin to dream, we girls have fairy tale visions of when we will we wed our very own prince charming. We draw pictures and we sort out the details so much so that the vision of this special day is etched in our brain and we wonder throughout our life just how it will transpire? A lot of people conceive the plus size woman to be overweight and they totally misconstrue what a plus size woman is. Some women eat because they stress too much which leads to weight gain.

Whatever the cause, plus size women need larger clothing and with the average American woman now wearing an average size of a 14, accounting for nearly 68% of the population, this size chart is tipping the scales at retail stores, and yet retail stores are refusing to sell plus size clothing and intimates. My questions is why? Why when this is a $18 billion dollar industry is it so damn difficult to find plus size apparel and lingerie?

They seem to think that this is like that of a phase that too shall pass. News flash; the percentage of plus size woman is increasing, not decreasing. It now becomes the chain of supply and demand. There are those stores that sell women's plus size clothes and lingerie but that comes with a cost. These retailers or even smaller boutiques know that women don't have a lot of options so they jack the prices up forcing the plus size woman to spend extra money because she loves the product and sees no other choice because so little companies carry the merchandise.

Most retail stores have taken on the snub-nose attitude stating that they don't have to carry plus size anything. The truth of the matter lies here; they are hurting themselves and losing out BIG TIME on sales because they don't want to tarnish their images.

Don't Get Your Panties in a Bunch…

Have you ever been at an airport, a ball game, a cookout, at a concert, a local grocery store or even a restaurant when you saw a woman walking around with toilet paper stuck to her shoe or worse, her dress or skirt caught in her pantyhose or panties leaving her tush to bare for all to see? What would you do? My grandmother used to always sing to me "I see England, I see France, I see Shelly's underpants!" Back in the day when I was a kid, that was funny…today, not so funny. To be publicly embarrassed is so not cool. 

This morning I was out and about picking up my favorite asiago cheese bagels for breakfast when a woman stormed past me to the line to place her order with her dress caught up in her panties. People were looking at her and chuckling, but no one was saying anything. I even saw a few people with their phones out and most likely taping this ordeal. This all happened quite fast…I sat back for all of about 10 seconds before I walked up behind her, leaned over her shoulder and said "forgive me please, but your thank me in a minute, as I gave her dress a tug!' As I grabbed onto her dress she turned around with a bright red face and teary eyes all the while knowing that this popular joint was full of both men, women and children and she was probably wondering to herself how many people saw her like this? 

My question is why? Why would you let someone get from the ladies room to the checkout without saying anything at all? Common courtesy says 'help a gal out here!' I would hope that if this ever happened to me that someone would immediately jump in. Sure it may be really funny for a minute or two but this woman will remember this FOREVER! 

The moral of the story is this; do a good deed. Don't let a sista walk around with her panties in a bunch and her dress caught baring all without coming to her rescue. The great news is that out of this tragedy, I made a new friend and gained a possible new customer at my lingerie store. This woman was really fortunate to have been wearing nice undies which was a plus for her and I did compliment her on that. I hear it at least 5 times a day in our Q&A Fashionista letters to Tantalizing Tina. People ask what women are afraid of? Some might say that women hide behind their baggy clothes… women don't know how to dress sexy enough,… women are not willing to let down their guard down, or some women just aren't the right size or shape to pull off lingerie. My response here is going to be short and sweet. Whomever is making these accusations and comments obviously has never slipped into a piece of lingerie before. It has been said that confidence is the sexiest thing a woman can wear…so why then might some of us be less reluctant to slither into it? We all have insecurities folks.

Women do not hide behind their clothes for a reason, and no, not all women do know how to dress. From a woman's point of view, we do put up shields, and our guard can be up like Fort Knox. Often we do hide behind a huge wall but this is for many reasons. None of us are the perfect size or shape. Some of us have fatty pockets where others may not, and some of us may not have been blessed with hooters of great size. Some of us after childbirth sag more or have larger hips…so what? Relationships…Why They Fizzle

Unlike 50+ years ago when my parents wed, relationships are not as easy as one might think and taking vows are in my opinion these days more or less are seriously being taken for granted. Anyone that says relationships are easy is probably the 2% static rate that actually does have a pretty fabulous gig. The other 98% however need to work on theirs each and everyday in order to make it work. Tina Turner once sang "What's love got to do with it?" The answer to that questions is EVERYTHING!

Making it work isn't as difficult as one might think, on the other hand, for many people it is quite challenging to say the least. Communication and trust are two key factors in any and all relationships. You have to have a solid foundation to build on or like quicksand you'll sink and the relationship will go under. Love takes days, weeks, months and even several years to make it right but the rewards are so great for those of us in relationships that struggle and learn from one another day in and day out.

Relationships are not based on sex alone, however, the sex appeal that we possess in a relationship and the teasing that we can do adds a little playful zest. I believe that things can get boring and fizzle if we allow them to and this happens when you get too busy in your own life and wrapped up in your own issues to make time for the one that you are with. Sometimes a woman feels like her boyfriend or husbands assistant talks to him more than she does. Often he has no clue to this as he just thinks that this is work and in all men's minds, work is work. Guess what fellas, it's not always about the mighty buck, and it's not always about you. I walked away from that 5 minute conversation with a new outlook on life and relationships.
