Hosting a Bridal Shower....the "Where To's and How To's"

Every day women are getting engaged and those whom are closest to them begin planning their bridal shower. As you know, when you're planning a bridal shower, you want everything to be perfect and something to always remember. From the theme, to the decorations, to the food, and to the games everything must be just right. With that in mind, special attention needs to also be placed on where your bridal shower will be located. So, where do you choose to have it? The location of your bridal shower can have a huge impact on how your bridal shower theme turns out. It can also lend itself naturally to some wonderful activities that will be memorable for all that attend. I've listed below a variety of places to host a bridal shower. You be the judge to decide what fits the style of the bride to be the best,..because after all, it is about her, not you.

A Private Home or Apartment
When choosing to have the shower at a private home, the options really are wide open. If you are a traditionalist, then the bridal shower should be held at the maid of honor’s home. It is, however, perfectly fine to have the bridal shower at the home of the bride or at the bride or groom’s parent’s house, or at anybody else’s home you desire. There really are no restrictions as to whose house you can have the bridal shower at. Just be sure to choose a home that is spacious enough to accommodate all of your guests. Don’t forget that the presents will take up space, too! And, somehow, they seem to take up even more space after they are open, so be sure there is plenty of room for the gifts both before and after they are opened. You don’t want to be crowded or cramped in any way, that makes it uncomfortable and you want your guests to feel at ease, and quite relaxed!

If you or someone you know lives in an apartment complex, you might also want to look into having the bridal shower on the roof top of the apartment. When I lived in Houston Texas, they did this a lot and it was beautiful looking out over the city after the sun started to go down. Evenings are also cooler, although in Houston, it never really cools down. On a porch/roof top, this area is quite spacious and can be a great deal of fun. Empty lofts are another option of living space turned to bridal shower location. You also need to be sure the home is located somewhere the bride and all of her guests can easily locate and get to. Your home may seem “perfect” in every way, but it won’t matter if no one can find it or if it is so far out of the way that it becomes a hassle.

A Park
A park can offer a pleasant outdoor atmosphere to be enjoyed by all guests. Often, parks have picnic areas that you can use to BBQ some enjoyable treats for guests. A park also lends itself naturally to fun outdoor activities for a “sports” or “outdoors” bridal shower theme.

A Bowling Alley
Many women are choosing to just go out for a night of bowling and pizza for their bridal shower. Typically, this would be a smaller group of women, such as just the bridal party. A bowling alley bridal shower does, however, lend itself well to a co-ed bridal shower because the atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable for the men, as well.

A Room in the Community Center or a Hall
A room in community center or a rented hall can be great for a bridal shower. Typically, these spaces were designed with special activities such as bridal showers in mind. Therefore, there should be plenty of space available for whatever your needs may be.

A Bar or Club
Sometimes, there is just nothing better than just going to a bar or club, particularly if those invited to your bridal shower enjoy dancing and having a “girls night out.” Just be sure to only invite those you know would be comfortable in this type of environment. A bar or club is also a good place to have a coed bridal shower.

A Room at Country Club or the Spa
Spending a day at the spa has become an increasingly popular bridal shower trend. This is generally a smaller party, as going to the spa can become quite costly. Often, just the women who are members of the bridal party enjoy this bridal shower. To spend a day at the spa, everyone usually signs up for two or three spa services. The job of the hostess is to ensure the space is available at the spa and to reserve a spot for lunch. At this time, gifts can be exchanged. Or, the guests might combine their money to pay for the spa treatment for the bride-to-be.

A Boat or Yacht
Renting a boat or Yacht for the day can be a great place for a bridal shower. If I were to get married again, my girlfriends would do this for me because I love the water...(hint hint!) You and your guests can enjoy the scenery and have a great time sailing away. A boat or a yacht can be perfect for a themed bridal shower, particularly if the bride-to-be enjoys sailing or likes gifts with a nautical theme, such as dolphins.

A Restaurant
Restaurant showers are gaining in popularity. This is largely because there is no clean up required afterward and it requires very little preparation. It is customary to pay for the food for guests invited to a bridal shower. You can, however, expect the guests to pay for their own meals and drinks while you provide dessert or a cake. Or, you can put a cap on the spending or only pay for pre-selected foods and drinks. If you won’t be paying for all of the food and drinks, be sure your guests are well aware ahead of time. In fact, this information should be included on the invitation.

Where ever you choose to have the shower, remember to plan ahead, order enough food and send the invitations out early enough so that people plan accordingly. Also, make sure that you get registered at the stores that you like so that your guests know what you want. This makes it easy on everyone, and you don't spend all your time after the honeymoon returning duplicated items!

Make the shower festive, memorable and take a lot of photos! If you are looking to have a more intimate party amongst the 'girls' consider hosting a party online or in your home (a catalog/website) lingerie party where orders are placed in privacy, it's fun, easy and the host earns commission for simply having the party! Finding Love Means Loving Yourself First...

For some of us, as we get older, we ponder relationships and ask ourselves if being in one is really all that it is cracked up to be? My thoughts, honestly...no. Perhaps it is because I've not yet the man that makes my heart skip a beat, or found someone who has common goals and interests, with as busy and active as I am, I want someone who never sleeps and loves to travel like I do, oh, and someone who loves kids and cats! My family is quite important to me. With all of my wants and needs, are the chances of me finding someone possible in reality? I think so...Perhaps there is someone wanting the same things that I desire? I keep going back to the question...do I really want this? I'd like to say that I do. If this is true, then I am a firm believer in paths crossing when they are supposed to. Fate has a lot to do with life. How do you feel about this subject?  Is finding a love on your mind? Have you been disappointed in your search like so many other people? While it may seem like discovering the type of relationship you long for is beyond your reach, rest assured it's not all that impossible. First of all...you need a positive attitude and Second...LOVE YOURSELF FIRST!

There are many strategies you can use to help you in your quest for that special someone. Once you find that extraordinary person who loves you for who you are, and accepts you as well as your flaws, your relationship can carry you forward, together, toward your dreams and complete fulfillment! FYI ladies, you won't find him in a nightclub or a bar. If you do, I can almost guarantee you...it won't last. Don't hold me to it, but that's my get up on this topic. I have had many of friends who met guys in these surroundings and anyone looks like a stud with a few cocktails in them, and when we are accompanied by alcohol, we tend to have a clouded judgement. If you are reading this and YOU DID meet your partner or spouse in a bar or club, please write me and tell me about it, I'd love to put a positive spin on relationships that do work when you meet in such places, and others would love to hear about it as well.

So,...Here are a few important tips to help you find the loving relationship you seek:

1. Know your own needs. When looking for a long-term relationship, the first thing you need to do is clarify your own wants and needs. Hey, it is ALL ABOUT YOU! Sooooo decided long and hard..."what do I want?" This is not about making those around you happy, it is only about what makes you happy. After all, if you don't know what you want, how will you recognize it when you find it? Write it all down if you have to. I do that...make a "Pro's" and "Con's" list.
  • Know who you are, what you want out of life, and what you absolutely don't want.
Many people go out looking for a relationship with no clue what they really need or want in a companion. Sometimes what they end up with is a real pain in their ass...so think long and hard about this one. When you're able to figure out your own desires and know who you truly are, then you're much more likely to find someone who fulfills those desires.

2. Be firm with your values. In essence, this means NEVER SETTLE! It's essential to stand up for the values you find important. If your love interest has completely different core values, then you're not going to be able to build a strong, loving, and lasting relationship.
  • You can still have a relationship with someone you disagree with on some issues...you won't always agree on everything. However, the foundational values that you hold dear should be shared. This could be your religious or political values, or whatever else is important to you.
3. Identify your goals. What are your goals? Where do you plan to be in five or ten years? If you see yourself successful and flourishing and they aren't sure what they want out of life...think long and hard about that...it may very well be your red flag. A relationship where both partners have very different goals will be difficult, not to mention, it will never work. (my own personal opinion, of course, from years of experience)
  • It's important that you find someone with similar goals so you're both heading in the same direction. I always say that your partner should be someone whose personality compliments yours well. You want to come closer together as your relationship grows, not be torn apart by wildly differing goals. For example, discuss important subjects such as children, career aspirations, and family life before jumping into a relationship.
4. Be true to yourself. This is imperative if you want to find the loving relationship your heart longs for. As I stated before this...You should never settle for someone just because you want to be in a relationship. As Julia Roberts said in "Pretty Woman"..."Big  Mistake....Huge!"
  • Don't allow your desire to have a loving relationship sell you short of what you really deserve.
If you're not true to yourself, you'll come to regret it later. You may wake up one day and realize you're not happy with your life, including the person you're sharing it with. Nothing sucks more than this....believe me, I lived this one.
Finding a loving relationship is possible so never, ever, ever allow someone tell you otherwise. Honey, it is all about you...so don't cut corners. However, it's important that you take the time to prepare yourself to attract your soul mate. It might take some time and effort to get to know yourself first, but the results will be worth it!Knowing yourself means laying the foundation work so that you can pave the way to a happy and successful tomorrow!

Understanding Body Language in Relationships

I wrote an article on this topic not long ago, but after several comments and emails to me I decided to get a little more to the true detail and traits of real body language. So what it is you exactly? Body language is the meaning behind the words or the “unspoken” language. My grandmother used to say that you can tell what a person is thinking without them ever having to open their mouth. She was such a smart lady. Reading the language of ones body movements, and facial expressions tells the true story.

Surprisingly, studies show that only up to an estimated 10 percent of our communication is only verbal. Honestly, that percentage doesn't at all surprise me. The majority of the rest of communication is unspoken. This unspoken language isn’t rocket science. However, there are some generalizations or basic interpretations that can be applied to help with the understanding or translating of these unspoken meanings. Here are some basics below.

Smile - People like warm smiles. Think of a heartfelt warm-fussy, maybe your favorite pet, and smile!

Eyes -I say this is the MOST important sign in great communication. If you don’t look someone in the eyes while speaking, this can be interpreted as dishonesty or hiding something. Big red flag! Likewise, shifting eye movement or rapid changing of focus/direction can translate similarly. If more than one person is present in a group, look each person in the eye as you speak, slowly turning to face the next person and acknowledge him or her with eye contact as well. Continue on so that each person has felt your warm, trusting glance. Some suggest beginning with one person and moving clockwise around the group so that no one is missed, and so that you are not darting around, seemingly glaring at people.

Attention Span / Attitude - Other people can tell what type attitude you have by your attention span. If you quickly lose focus of the other person and what is being said, and if your attention span wanders, this shows through and makes you seem disinterested, bored, possibly even uncaring.

Attention Direction - If you sit or stand so that you are blocking another in the party, say someone is behind you, this can be interpreted as rude or thoughtless. So be sure to turn so that everyone is included in the conversation or angle of view, or turn gently, at ease and slowly, while talking, so that everyone is incorporated, recognized and involved in the conversation. Again some suggest the clockwise movement when working a group.

Arms Folded / Legs Crossed - This can be seen as defensive or an end to the conversation. So have arms hang freely or hold a glass of water, a business card or note taking instruments while communicating with others. Be open with open arms. Note: If you need to cross legs, cross at your ankles and not your knees. Sitting tightly folded up says that you are closed to communications.

Head Shaking - This is fairly accurate. If people are shaking their heads while you speak, they are in agreement. If they are shaking, “no,” disagreement reigns in their minds.

Space / Distance - On the whole, people like their own personal body space. Give people room and keep out of their space. Entering to close can be intrusive and viewed as aggressive.

Leaning - Sitting or standing, leaning is viewed as interest. In other words, an interested listener leans toward the speaker.

Note others’ body language - While you are with others, note how their bodies read. If a person suddenly folds his arms across his chest and begins shaking his head “no,” you’ve probably lost him. Might try taking a step back and picking up where the conversation began this turn for the negative and regroup. It’s all about strategic planning, so 'think'... before you 'do!'

How Many Losers Have You Kissed?

What are the odds of finding that one frog amongst a pool of  frauds. Your prince? Are you kidding? It's not that easy! How many times do you go looking for your prince only to come up with nothing more than mud in your hand from that mucky water? Perhaps your local pond full of frogs isn't what you had hoped it would be? Do you kiss them all in hopes of finding a handsome prince, but instead you all you get to find slimy lips and the same ole' song and dance? If so, sister, you’re hanging around the wrong dating pool, and it’s time to make some changes.

You’ve certainly heard the armchair definition of insanity- “doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result.” Well dating insanity is, “dating the same kind of guys over and over while expecting them to become something that they aren’t.” Are you satisfied with losers? Of course you're not. You don’t intend to kiss a frog, you’re just mistaking him for a prince-in-training. You have to stop settling for guys who are almost right and find your Mr. Right.

 Every single woman faces an honesty crisis. Once you get to the bar, there are plenty of men who say everything except what’s on their mind. What if he said what he really thought - “Hi, your dress is too tight and your makeup’s overdone so you look like a tramp and I’m ready to treat you like one, okay?” But no, he does the flattery and the seduction game, the "you're what I've been waiting for my entire life" and so you hear the line he’s feeding you and it matches what you want to hear, so it’s a match, at least for a few hours. Face it, girls, men in bars lie. Nothing good ever comes from meeting a man in a bar. I don't know about you but I just want an old fashion, simple guy.

Most men...they want sex, but you want a dating relationship. So you give them what they want and they lose your phone number. You thought he was sincere but you didn’t put him to the Prince test. The real Prince Charming likes sex, sure he does, what man in his right mind doesn't?.... But he like you more. He wants to build a relationship with you and is willing to wait on sex to prove his interest in you as a person. You might kiss Prince Charming goodnight at the door, but he remains a prince. If he’s in disguise and you kiss him at the door, he turns back into a frog and gets pushy. Slam the door on his slimy foot or any other handy appendage, or threaten to bread him and fry him for dinner.

As women, we all want to trust, but it is so easy to get mislead. It’s difficult to find the real Prince Charming among all of the pretenders. Not only do men in bars lie, but they also put on a great show of sincerity. Some have it down to a fine art. They’re even trained in pickup master groups to listen to what you want and suddenly become that guy. They learn to echo your words and even follow your body movements so that you’re instantly disarmed by them. True Princes may not be as slick and sometimes they’re even awkward. You can work on the law of large numbers and kiss a lot of frogs, hoping to eventually find a Prince. Or you can give up the love lottery and save your kisses for the guy who truly deserves everything you have to offer a man! From the time we are little girls, we search for our true prince...he's out there,...He just needs to find his way back  and realize that maybe he does miss you just a little?

Which "Mr. Right" Are You Looking For?

Tell me something because I am just dying to know....why is it that women spend so much time looking for Mr. Right? Every weekend (or so it seems) single women launch the hunt for Mr. Right. What’s amazing to me is that many of them pass their Mr. Right every day in the office, at the gas station, at your local "mom & pop" restaurant, or while out walking the dog after work. He’s as likely to be at your gym, shopping in your grocery store or standing in line at your favorite movie theatre as he is hanging around the singles mingle hour at some local bar. Since it seems to be such a struggle in this modern day and age find him, let’s look at the alternatives, shall we? Which Mr Right are you looking for, exactly?

Mr. Right Here
...is the guy who is handy. He works in your department or lives in your apartment complex. He might be the nice neighbor of your best friend. You’ve seen him so often that he blends into the scenery. He’s not pushy or forward and never comes at you with stupid pick up lines. He’s so nice that you immediately think there must be something wrong with him. But there’s not. He’s simply a nice guy, hard working and not trying too hard. He is the man who is right in front of you time and time again yet you overlook him repeatedly because he is just the "nice guy!"

Mr. Right Now
...is the guy who’s asking you out for dates regularly. He wants to spend time with you, but you aren’t captivated by him. Finally, you look around and see all of your girlfriends with boyfriends, so you decide to hang onto him. After all, you don’t want to be the last girl left standing alone on the sidelines - and he’s happy just to be with you. You might actually like him if you weren’t using him for a prop to make you look popular while you scan the room for something better. Shame on you! Guys have feelings too!

Mr. Right for Them
...is the guy that everyone is certain is right for you. He’s the son of your parents’ friends and they’ve conspired several times so that you could meet him. He might be the college roommate of your best friend’s husband and they think he’s a wonderful guy. It’s possible that he’s a new member of the tennis club and your friends shuffle the foursome list so you can play doubles, hoping that the action extends beyond the court. Basically, you’re getting so much “help” from others that you aren’t sure if you really like him or if you’re trying to please other people who care about both of you. Listen up...you need to follow your heart and do what you feel is right, because you would be the one spending time with this guy, not your parents or your friends, etc.

Mr. Right But
...is the guy that could be perfect, but there’s some impediment that you aren’t sure will work. Maybe he’s a divorced single father with custody of two small children. You aren’t even sure you want children and certainly not a ready-made family with instant motherhood. He might have a job with extensive world travel or he’s in the military and could be stationed in hazardous locations for months at a time. He could be a great guy, but he just doesn’t fit your fairytale story - instead of the tall, handsome prince, he’s barely your height and prematurely balding....excuses...excuses. Ask yourself this gals? Are you perfect? IF the answer is YES, you won't learn anything from reading this page as you already have your act together and most likely have the best guy around, right? If you are not perfect, which in reality NONE of us are, then why expect the man of your dreams to be perfect? We all have flaws. Not one person is going to have everything you desire in a man but as I said in an article recently, meet him in the middle. It's a give and take thing and you need to accept that.No more 'buts!'

So where is Mr. Right?
Before you answer, “I don’t know,” take a look around - a real good hard honest look. Do you see Mr. Right Here, Mr. Right Now, Mr. Right for Them or Mr. Right But? You might take a second look. One of them could be your Mr. Right who is waiting for you to see him for what he really is. Don't you owe it to yourself to take that second or third look?

Remember, if your looking for that muscular fit hunk-of-burning-love guy...that's fine....but get to know a man for what he is on the inside as well as the outside. What's on the outside may not at all be what you really desire the most after all....

Easy Steps to Manage Your Time

Day in and day out we constantly state that we can't meet deadlines without stress, often we suffer restless nights with very little sleep. Some of us are great planners and have a schedule, some of us have no idea what we're doing, we just wake up to a 'post it' note knowing what we must to get done...but do we follow a schedule? Are you managing your time properly? As a single mother, my kids were 13 and 11 when I divorced. Even at their ages, life seemed so rushed and I always felt like I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off. Now looking back, I wonder how I did it, and my kids could move about themselves. Getting them in the car and off to where we needed to be was a task, nonetheless, I see women and men (some single parents, like myself) with small children and infants and I wonder "How do they do it?" Wow do I give them credit!

 Regardless of how you go about it, managing your time is crucial both in business and professionally. When you have a plan, whether it be at home from taking kids to school, going for a manicure, grocery shopping, picking up dry cleaning, going back to school to pick up the kids, getting home to make dinner, doing homework, cleaning the house (because that didn't get done that morning with the busy schedule) and then baths, and going to bed, ONLY to start tomorrow the same way....you need to be organized or things will get skipped and my friend, you will BURN OUT! Without a plan, imagine how business would be run? deadlines would not be met, board meeting would be missed, etc. There are many ways we can manage our time. I have listed some strategies you can use to manage your time in a better and more efficient manner. They are noted below.

1. Always define your goals as clearly as possible.
Do you find you are not doing what you want to do just because your goals have not been set properly yet?
One of the factors which make successful and happy people stand out is their ability to work out what they want to achieve and have written goals which they can review them constantly. Your long term goals should impact on your daily activities and be included on your "to do" list. Without a goal or objective people tend to just drift off personally and professionally. Don't be one of those people! Make it matter!

2. Analyze your use of time.
Are you spending enough time on the projects which although may not be urgent now but are things that you need to do to develop yourself or your career? If you are constantly asking yourself “What can I do to make things easier for me right now?" it will help you to focus on 'important tasks' and stop reacting to tasks which seem urgent (or pleasant to do) but carry no importance towards your goals.Try getting and using a personal calendar, setting reminders on your computer, cell phone or personal organizer. This works...but, some people just don't take the time to do this. If you are one of these people, try it. It may not seem to be working right away but after a few weeks or even a month, your life and your time will seem a lot less hectic!

3. Have a plan.
How can you achieve your goals without a plan? I don’t even think that is possible. Most people know what they want but have no plan to achieve it except by sheer hard work. What’s the point in doing hard work when you don’t know how to apply it? Your yearly plan should be reviewed daily and reset as your achievements are met. Successful people make lists constantly. It enables them to stay on top of priorities and enable them to remain flexible to changing priorities. This should be done for both personal and business goals. I never realized how important this was to plan ahead until I started my own businesses and after a few years sought out assistance in growing them and taking them to a new level. Now I have a road map that shows me how things "should" go if I follow my plan.

4. Action plan analysis.
Problems will always happen when you set a plan. Such is life...so ALWAYS have a back up plan! The value of a good plan is to identify them early and seek out solutions immediately. Good time management enables you to measure the progress towards your goals because "What you can measure, you can control". Always try to be proactive in the achievement of successfully managing your time. Time management is not a hard subject to understand, but unless you are committed to building better time management techniques into your daily routine you'll only achieve partial (or no) results and end up right back where you started. You have to commit to managing your time better and remember to include time for yourself. The lesson that you need to learn is that the more time we spend planning our time and activities the more time we will have for those activities. By setting goals, eliminating time wasters and doing this everyday, you may find you will have extra time in the week to spend on those people and activities most important to you. We can't stop time as hard as we try...so make every minute count!

He Loves Me,..He Loves Me Not

OK, relationships are not easy, and they take practice, lots of it! So you think that  you have met that special guy and now you're wondering how to make him fall in love with you? Girlfriend pleaseeee, it rarely happens over night, and  while there is (unfortunately) no super magic potion that you can whip up to put him under your spell, the good news is that there is a lot you can do to get and keep his interest. First of all be confident with who YOU are! It means taking the time to love yourself first and foremost, then loving someone else will be a walk in the park as they say!

First, Be Yourself ...
Most men are very independent minded creatures and like to make up their own mind about everything. They do not want you to tell them what to do and they do not like to feel they are being led or tricked into liking or disliking something. So there is no point doing things that are not natural to you, to try to please them. For example, if you hate football, do not pretend to like it just because he is a huge fan. He will know you don't really care, no matter how much work you do learning the names of all the players. He will just think you are trying to deceive or trap him, and he'll take off so fast that you'll never see him again.

... And Love Yourself
Be yourself but do not put yourself down. No Negative Nancy all right?  Many people do this, usually to reassure others that we are not a threat, but people will often take you at your own valuation and it can make them think you are boring. Ask your friends for advice here, or record yourself talking. Do you tend to make yourself look small and uninteresting? If you do, you need to get yourself out of this habit. Try to be aware and think before you speak.Look after yourself physically. Take exercise and try to eat well. This will make you feel better about yourself, plus you will develop a glow that is naturally healthy and attractive. Love yourself and he is much more likely to love you.

Be Interesting
The best way to be an interesting person is to do interesting things. Have a life. Do not spend every evening waiting for the phone to ring or watching movies on TV. Go to an evening class, meet people, take up a sport you used to like in school. Be careful not to criticize others, too.

Admire Him
We generally always tend to like the people who like us, so it is fine to let him know that you like him ... as a friend. However, if you have fallen in love at first sight it may be best to keep that to yourself. Let him be the first to say 'I love you'. Most men love to be admired. They may run a mile if you try to cling to them, but they will do almost anything for someone who admires them and believes in them without making any demands.So while it is better to keep your undying love to yourself, at least at the beginning, it is fine to tell him openly that you admire something he does. Any sentence that starts with 'I really admire the way you ...' is a winner because we all know how much men love getting their egos stroked.

If after all of this, you ask yourself, does he love me, or love me not? Maybe he does, and maybe he doesn't. Listen, Rome wasn't built overnight, and if you try to rush a relationship, you'll fail. Take the time to really get to know someone and implement the tools above to help him along the way.

The Wonder Woman of Working Moms

All moms are working moms, and all moms face the challenge of prioritizing how they spend their time. Time management becomes absolutely critical, though, for mothers who must devote 40 to 50 precious hours a week to a job. For women in such situations, it’s crucial to streamline and simplify pretty much every imaginable area of life. We have sticky notes, and schedules, carpools, and PTA Meetings....sporting events- little league, soccer, volleyball games....when did it end?

I'll tell you when.....

When they turn 16 and got a drivers license...that's when! I handed them the keys and said GO! The day my son got his drivers license he could have driven to China with his sister and I would have paid for the gas gladly! ......(jokingly that is just an expression my folks used to use...) truth at hand is, for the first time in years I was able to relax take a deep breath and get some chores and house work done....something I wasn't used to getting done until after 9 pm at night. I didn't become a single mom until the kids were 14 and 12 when I divorced.....that was difficult for me,...not sure why, they were pretty self-sufficient and they packed their own bags to go to Dads, or to go to school and grabbed their own lunch stuff. I have NO idea how women with small children do it. I applaud you, truly I do! I see women at the airport when I am on business trips with strollers packed full and holding kids under their arms while chasing the toddler and I think to myself....."I have a hard enough time packing 'me' and getting here!" Women today are like Wonder Woman! We are built with super powers to do it all.

These are just a few things that we Moms do......we knock them off the list one at a time;
  • clean the house;
  • do laundry;
  • shop for groceries;
  • take care of errands, which may include paying bills and handling financial matters;
  • help kids with homework;
  • be present at kids’ activities;
  • spend time with partner;
  • spend time with friends and family members;
  • pursue personal interests of any kind;
  • and “maybe — just maybe — sneak in an hour to go to the gym or to soak in a bubble bath.” (this was always an added bonus for me..) now I fall asleep in the tub with a glass of wine, soooo relaxed! Don't think that there are not times where I missed the days tha tmy kids were young. I thought of it tonight as I sat with a friend outside of Dairy Queen watching all the soccer kids pile into and out of the mini vans and SUVs.
Hmmmm. No wonder so many women I know are so tired! When our heads hit the pillow we are out like a light!

Get in a "Time Management" program at home: The following tips may not solve every time-management challenge that confronts you, but hopefully they’ll help you think about ways to simplify and save time as you manage your own unique schedule and circumstances.

1. Have places tht things go and know where the keys are always! If you’re constantly tripping over shoes, losing library books or running late in the mornings because your kids can’t find their backpacks, homework or school books, something’s got to change. It may be time to institute a system for packing up backpacks with all necessary contents and leaving them by the door before bedtime — no exceptions. Baskets and low-cost storage bins also can help you organize the most troublesome items in your life.

2. Smooth out the bumps in your mornings....no one wants to rush! Mornings are exceptionally rough for many working moms. It can be hard enough to get yourself ready, out the door and off to work on time, right? Well, that whole process becomes exponentially harder when you have to wake, feed, clothe, pack for and transport a small human being in addition to yourself. Do as much as you possibly can the night before.

 Wake up one full hour before your child does. This will allow you to drink coffee, get dressed, take care of your own pre-work tasks and get breakfast staged before the kids get moving. Plan to arrive everywhere 30 minutes early. (Note: You’ll probably never arrive anywhere 30 minutes early.) But this mindset of trying to arrive early will give you a much better shot at showing up where you’re supposed to be on time. Plan your meals a week in advance and grocery shop for all meals at that time. It saves time, energy, worry, and cash!!
Pack a bag with everything in it, and pack the car, snacks, bottled water, goodies. baby wipes, diapers, band-aids, toys, books, etc.

 Learn how to juggle kids "after school time" .....Ok, seriously, this can get tough....especially if one is at soccer practice and the other has piano lessons. I only had two kids and I had a difficult time.....what do people do with 3 or 4 or 5 or more? Keeping up with work at the office might get tricky but without the job, you wouldn't have all of these added luxuries, nor would the kids.
Society today is so wrapped up in go go go and do do do, that we forget to slow down. Take time, enjoy your family because one day you'll be sitting in an office at 10:00 o'clock at night in silence writing an article and realize how much you miss the good ole' days!
