Raising Our Children with Ethics, Morals and Values

How we raise our children speaks volume about who we are as parents. How our children act on our teachings as adults is strictly up to them. I believe that when you show love in your household and teach your children ethics, morals and values, it makes them a better person. I believe that we pave the road for our children and their future by raising them with the basic and loving fundamentals that we were taught. No, we are not perfect parents, nor can we make our children turn out perfect young adults, but we can guide them and kick them in the ass when they take a wrong turn. (just kidding)

I was raised with love and kindness and that is how I raised my children. I had the luxury of not only being raised by two wonderful parents, rather 4 grandparents and one great grandmother. That's 7 fantastic people that influenced my life. My children had two parents, 4 grandparents and 3 great grandparents. Am I proud of them today? You betcha I am. They have never shown me disrespect and they always took my advice whether they wanted to hear what I had to say or not. I think somewhere deep inside, even if they were not happy at times with what I had to say, they knew that 'ole mom had a good head on her shoulders!' 

Here’s a story to share with you. When I am not trying to be the best aunt, daughter, friend mom and sister I can be, when I am not out saving relationships, or pinning my blogs, DIY projects or recipes on Pinterest…when I am not tweeting about sales at my stores, making new friends on Facebook or trying to make it big in the panty world, I also work a part time job in sales with a group of young ladies that are quite special to me. I call them my very own “Fab 5” and the old boys of Michigan U of M don’t have anything on these ladies! They are my superheroes. These women give me hope, encouragement and a reason to keep on blogging and selling lingerie. They are my cheerleaders and they motivate me! Let me not forget someone else, lets call her Jordache,who is no longer working with us but remains dear to me and I miss her and her funny stories.

Oh how I love when these women come to work and tell me about their lives,... and by now they all know that they should really watch what they say as their conversations are the best blogging materials for new articles. 

Often, I wake up knowing what I want to write about, and other days, I have to ponder it a bit. Or, I go into work and one of the gals tell me about something that happened that makes me want to share it with all of you. Here’s my story about raising your child with morals. Last week, one of these gals came in and told me that she was asked to prom. It wasn’t just any invite, it was what every young lady could ever probably wish for and not just for some formal dance, but to her senior prom. This young lady wanted an invite to her prom. She had the perfect dress picked out and all that she needed was to be asked. Oh, she got invited, but allow me to share with you the thought that this young man put into his invitation; and to all of you other young men, do take notes: 

He started by putting a teddy bear and a note in her car at the end of the day last week. The note said “when you get home, go to your front door” so she did…and at her front door was a bouquet of roses along with a note that said; “arrange these in order and call this number.” She did just that and when she put them it order it spelled the word ‘PROM!’ She then called the number left with the note. This young man told her “do not give him her answer yet, he said "I’d like to hear it in person.” Then he told her to go to her front door…so she did. There he was this handsome young man standing on her porch. It was then that he asked her to go to the high school prom with him. 

This young man made a real impression and my guess is that he is already loved by her family. He opens doors for her, walks her to her door, and treats her very much like a lady in every sense of the word. He is good to his siblings and loves his mom. When the topic of dating and relationships came up, she told him that she wasn’t ready for a relationship. He told her that it was all right and that he would wait because she was worth waiting for! Oh, and PS) she said 'YES!' 

KUDOS to the parents who raised such a fine young man and double kudos to this young ladies parents who taught their daughter how to love, be kind to others, to have standards and to never settle. Two kids raised by two separate families who both were loved and nurtured. They have much respect for themselves and for others. This comes from yet how they were raised and the morals and ethics as parents that we instilled.

I get chills when I hear stories like this because in society today, there are far too many children that just don’t get it. Teach your kids to be kind and not mean. Keep your children close and regardless of if they stay, or stray, always know that you gave them all the love that you could, and just pray that someday they see the picture a little bit more clearly! Raising children is not easy! The most important thing is to keep the lines of communication open.

 Shopping for clothes isn't easy so why on earth would we think that shopping for a man would be? Have you ever tried really hard to meet the 'right man' and all you ended up with was the wrong one? A little over 13 years ago I walked away from a marriage with two kids, a pocketful of memories and my dignity. That was enough for me. I wanted my kids to know that love was not about drinking, or fighting, rather passion, romance, love and kindness. Forgiveness and learning from one another to grow and create a better bond regardless of the length of time committed in a relationship was what I discovered to be the success of staying together. Unfortunately, I learned a little too late.

Self-esteem plays a big role in healthy relationships. Sometimes when we walk away from something good that turned sour over a period of time causes us to lose confidence. I have experienced this in my own life. It took time for me understand who I was and what it truly was that I needed when I started over. I had to rebuild my own life before I could try to find a mate to make a good life with.Yes, I have had failed relationships, sure I have...and I have also had so many that never actually got of the ground...and like you, I asked myself why, why why?

My question was quite simple- What is the reason that I seem to end up picking the wrong person so many times? Well, after years of doing this I realized that I was not ready to find the man for me. My grandmother who was also my best friend always told me that it was all about timing, and paths crossing at the right time. My dates never lasted long. They either did not understand what it was like to be a single mother and raise kids, or they didn't have kids themselves or they didn't like kids...and that was the end of the beginning because I always said that if you liked me you had to like and accept my children because we were a package deal. This was the reason that I had to walk away, and I had every right to do so.

I was like the runaway bride. I found fault with each and every man I dated, enough so to walk away from the beginning of an ending relationship that never really had the opportunity to get off the ground. My daughter told me once that I looked for ways to sabotage relationships and you know what? She was right! That was exactly what I had been doing all these years. It wasn't until a short time ago that I realized it was time to stop. It was time to focus on finding that one man that understood me, and accepted me for me. Where on earth would I find him?

 So how do you recognize the right guy? The first step is to articulate what you want and need. That list is different for everyone. But the second list is universal. And that’s a clear understanding of the qualities of a healthy relationship. I look at good men and what they do for a living....NO not because of what they make, rather how they work under pressure and how hard the work for what they want. I love a man who is an overachiever, much like my own personality, so it is not at all uncommon for me to want the same in a man with the goals and love for life that I have. Enjoy your time with a man who is interested in you, the good and the bad...that means the perfections as well as the flaws.

 Don't waste your time on a guy who doesn't make the effort. Yes, I believe in women being able to ask a guy out, flirt with them, etc. You can start it, but if he doesn't seem like he wants to finish the race, give it up and move on to the next contestant. We seem to invest our feelings way too soon, they we get hurt when a guy doesn't respond the way you want them too. If someone asks you out and you have a great time, but they don't make the effort to arrange for a second date within a reasonable period of time, assume that they are not that interested. Find a man who stands out, one who makes the time for you, and allows you to enter into his world. Most men that truly do care will share with you their feelings and chain of events that led up to where they are today and why they are in the dating scene. Look for a happy, clever, positive man with a zest for life, respect for himself and especially one who shows respect for YOU!

 Here's how I look at it; A good businessman knows how to go close the deal. Ask any guy, if they truly want something, is there anything that would prevent them from obtaining it? Would they just give up if it seemed to hard, no because they love a challenge. How about the guy who is really nice, but not your type who is always trying to get your number. He's determined. His goal is to get your number and take you out. And he will keep trying unless you tell him that your just not interested. As long as he thinks he has a chance, he will keep trying. This is what I mean by saying that if they want something, they will do whatever it takes to get it. The same is true with dating and relationships. If a guy is truly interested in you, he will make the effort to get a date with you. Like shopping for clothing, we often have to try on a few new outfits before we find the one that fits just right.

How to tell you are with the right man;

1. You bring out the best in each other, not the worst. You encourage each other to grow personally, professionally and emotionally, recognizing that change is positive and healthy.
2. You trust each other and can count on one another to do the right thing. There’s no jealousy or second-guessing in the relationship.
3. You have fun together. Playfulness adds spice, and laughter is an aphrodisiac.
4. You share common core beliefs and values. Connecting on an emotional and spiritual level can be just as powerful as a physical connection.

Men's Six Packs....Soooo Smokin Hot

Yes we all know that if you ask any woman if a man is sexier with a six pack she will say YES...but what is it that makes men want to have smokin' hot six packs? If you watch television, or look in a variety of men’s magazines you will very quickly see that most are filled with exercise and workout routines designed to give men a chiseled anatomy that women go goo-goo over. Some men work out for the health benefits, for pleasure, and to generally stay in shape. This is reasonable and desirable. Every man should want to be fit and healthy, nevertheless, some men develop an unhealthy obsession with getting a ripped physique and begin using drugs such as steroids which are not hot and not so cool at all.

Why do men want to have these super hero style bodies and how far will they go to get them? Listen, confidence for men is just as important as it is for us ladies. We look in the mirror and see a not so tight ass any longer or saggy hooters as we age and we look at a variety of ways to make necessary changes to benefit our bodies. We all know that ab-toning exercises are, of course, vital to getting that six pack you're craving.
