Express Yourself...

"You deserve the best in life...So if the time isn't right then move on. Second best is never enough
You'll do much better baby on your own." I heard this Madonna song tonight as my son (in NYC) and I were sending text messages to one another and I put this part of the lyrics on my Facebook wall. Think about it...don't you deserve the best in life? If the answer is yes, you need to Express yourself!

Have you ever felt like no matter how hard to tried to make things better, or to make a relationship work you just kept taking three steps forward to go two steps back? That was my life 13 years ago and looking back is wasn't as easy as so many people would think. Being the black sheep of my family already I was the one who didn't get through college. I was the one who got married too young and became a mother too fast, and I was the one who would never succeed like her siblings did. Imagine trying to live your life competing with that? Welcome to what was once known as my world.
Do you know how old and meaningless it gets to be the one hounded by your mother for things that she would NEVER in a million years hound your brother and sister for? Have you ever been made to feel so bad that your self esteem became so low that you didn't think you were capable of doing anything at all, much less being a mother? I ask you...where is the love?

After my divorce I was the "pity" child. I was the one that was in need of something/everything. I was the single daughter with no man to care for me...but guess what? I didn't need a man to take care of me. I could take care of myself. I took on retail management jobs, and worked for custom builders. I tried working for nursing homes, chiropractors, I was an office manager a few times, I ran a payroll and account department,  property management, mortgage work, more sales, and even real estate. The problem was....I wasn't the vice president of a bank, the doctor or the molecular biologist. I was none of that....but I was still the same girl that held her head high when she walked into a room because I was proud of who I was. I paid the bills, kept the room over 3 heads, put food on the table, put two kids through private high school and then onto college. I was 'Super Mom' and to me, that job title was held with more honor, praise and respect than all of the above jobs put together.

I was just me...a woman on a mission to succeed somehow doing something that I love. No one ever guessed that would be selling panties and sexy lingerie for a living but that you see was my calling. Building two lingerie businesses from scratch was exactly what I did. If you think owning your own business is easy, think again my friend...It is endless hours, tons of computer work, new products, blogs, affiliate programs, taking business classes to keep up on laws and rules, and traveling to convention centers for trade shows. Even doing all of those things as important as they all are making other women feel  special and giving them the confidence to believe in themselves was where my destiny was. You may not think much of it but I was determined to make a difference. Does my family approve of what I do? I am not sure really. Sometimes I think that they think I'm nuts. Do I care? No....because you see like Madonna, I deserved the best in life, and it was/is my time...so I'm moving on, with or without the support of others. Sometimes I do much better on my own, and since I love what I am doing, and I am confident in 'me' nothing else really seems to matter for it is this that makes me who I am, and I am a happy gal!

The moral of the story is don't let someone else try to run your life. No one decides what's best for you except for you. Never let anyone tell you that you are not good enough. No one needs a dictator, and no one needs to treat you like anything you do is inadequate. Others, including your family may think that they know what is best for you,...but guess what? Only you know what is best for you. I did it at age 19 and I can make the right decisions at 48.

Never allow yourself as a person to feel like you are second best, or not good enough. You owe it to you to be true to who you are, regardless of what you do. If you are happy with your life, you owe no one any explanations. If you are lost and looking for your way...fear not, you'll find it. Have faith in yourself. If you are afraid of making mistakes....honey, I wrote the book on them, and I am still making mistakes but if you don't mess up once in a while you won't grow from it. If people keep bailing you out or trying to 'fix' your problems, you'll never learn.

Take life one day at a time. Life is NOT about having regrets. Life is far too short to ask 'what if?' Life is too short to wonder 'why' didn't I try this, or that? If you don't like what you do for a living, make a change. If you don't like where you live, move. If you love big cities and live in a small rural town, pack your bags and venture out. If you don't you'll never know what could have been, and trust me, you don't want to look back on your life 20 years from now and wonder 'what if!' Life is full of risks, so take one. Don't be afraid to grab the bull by the horns. Live for today! As for me, I have two terrific kids now both living in NYC that love life, and they are finding their way. They are succeeding and doing well, and they should be...I didn't meddle and I gave them the tools to use in life to grow and learn. They are happy and they love me for me, good, bad and ugly...faults, bad habits and all. That is unconditional love my friends and that is what life is all about.

Unconditional love is known as affection without any limitations.Who really loves you? Those who allow you to be who you are without judging you know the true meaning. They are the ones who will sit back, watch you grow and mature, and they will be the ones that see the fullest potential in all that you are and all that you do. Those who want to control you or run your life,..they have a real problem. Love is not smothering someone,...it's giving you the space to learn and to grow.

She's Not Picking Up My Calls....

So you met this attractive woman at the club. The two of you danced, chatted, shared a few cocktails, had some good laughs, she reciprocated all your flirts and by the end of the night you had her digits. However, a few days passed by and you consistently called her only to talk with her voice mail over and over and over. So why didn't she return any of your calls? Hello??

A lot of women have been taught that the way to “hook” a man and keep him wanting more is to play hard to get. And not returning your calls right away (or at all) is one of the techniques some women use. On the other hand, it is often much easier for them to play nice and give you their number instead of shaking their heads and saying: “Sorry, I’m just not interested.”

Think hard about your interaction with her and the way you carried yourself and ask yourself some questions like: Were you interesting or boring and predictable to her? Were you a challenge or were you overly sensitive in front of her? Did you say or do something offensive or did you kiss up to her too much? Did she discover something about you that made her rethink her decision to answer your calls?

My advice, wait it out for a few days to a week. If you still haven’t heard from her by then, you need to realize she's showing you one of the biggest signs that she's just not that into you and it's time to move on. Whatever you do, do not go and visit her without her consent. Women DO NOT like surprise visits ever! Showing up suddenly might seem like the ideal solution to getting some communication going, but showing up at her door will not only only upset her, but also make her think she now has a stalker as well.

Need some reasons why women don't want to see you again, much less take your phone call?

1. You're Way Too Into Me: We're all nervous about being liked on a first date, but it's even worse when the fella is proposing before the bread basket has arrived. Too much too fast makes me want to put on the brakes.

2. You Got Too Drunk: Alcohol can help relax the initial first-date jitters. However, you shouldn't get all Wiley McWasted. Slurring isn't sexy.

3. You Got Grabby: This often goes hand in hand with #2, but before I let my guard down, I want to get the sense that you respect me, and for goodness sakes...keep your paws to yourself. Not every woman wants to be pet, grabbed, and strip searched on the first date. Where are your manners?

4. Bad Table Manners: A friend of mine once went out with a man who burped quite loud after he downed a beer.... Eeewww, GROSS! Needless to say, there will be no date #2.

5. You Didn't Offer To Buy My First Drink: As a working girl, I'm all for going Dutch. Dinner is one thing, but if you invite me to meet you at a bar and you don't try to get me one drink, you're a cheapskate. How can we get this romance  started if you're not even willing to ask me what I want from a simple bar menu?

6. You Twittered In My Presence: Everybody Twitters sometime, but Twittering while we're on our first date? Can't those 140 characters wait? Or am I boring you?  Or are you writing that you're having a bad time? That update just opened a Pandora's Box of insecurities.

7. No Eye Contact: I can't trust you if you can't look me in the eyes. My grandmother used to always say; 'if he can't look you straight in the eyes he's not being honest with you!' That's bad news and that should be your big RED FLAG! Even if it's just from nerves, in my mind,...I don't know if you're anxious or a serial killer. Either way, you're showing a serious lack of confidence.

8. Too much EX talking going on....He talked about how beautiful his ex-wife, ex-lovers or ex-girlfriends are/were, which in my opinion is the biggest insecurity a man can show on the first date. He wants to reassure you that he had beautiful women in his past...the problem is, he's out with you and he couldn't keep them. The man has some issues, so move forward and don't look back. He'll never admit to this so don't waste your time trying to analyze him, he's hopeless.

 9. You Called Your Ex-Girlfriend "Crazy": Sure, I might be scared you'd say the same thing about me. But I'm even more afraid that she truly is a whack-job. Guys, listen, NEVER EVER EVER talk bad about or 'dis' your old girlfriends or ex-wives. So not cool. For one, they can't stand up for themselves, so show some respect and keep your yap shut.

 10. You Were Rude To The Waiter/Waitress: Whether you seemed one flirt away from slapping her ass or you complained about every detail of the meal, you should always be respectful. If you're already abusing your relationship with a waiter/waitress, what hope is there for me?

Beauty Secrets for Everyone to Follow...

We know that there is no fountain of youth, but what if I told you that all you need to really do is to reevaluate your lifestyle and eating habits? Little do we know, or fully understand this but it can make a difference and in some cases, even save a life. Be aware of what you put into your body. It's not made with an armored shield and it does break down. We are human and we need to have a better understanding of healthy issues and limit our bodies to a certain amount of things that are bad for you, while increasing the nutrients and such that are good for you! Here's a quick note for you regarding what you need to do to gain a much more healthy "you!"

Water, you need water....lots of it! Try to add at least 4 more glasses of water to your daily diet. The rule of thumb for water is 8 glasses per day; and one extra for every ten pounds overweight you are.

Fats, you need to know about fats. There are different kinds of fats. Some fats are better for you than others. A rule of thumb on fats is, stay away from hydrogenated fats. These are fats that solidify. They are in store bought cakes, cookies, crackers, chips and even in bran muffins. Read the labels.

Choose fats that are polyunsaturated or fats such as olive oil. And, eat some fish to get some omega-3 fats. Carbohydrates - Are your immediate fuel source. An average is about 55 percent of your diet in carbohydrates. So, a rule of thumb is, figure your protein grams, get around 25% fat per day, and the rest would be in carbohydrates.
The heavier you are, the more protein you need the less carbohydrates you will need.

Fiber - work up to getting 25 grams of Fiber per day.

Protein - averages about 20 percent.
Divide weight by 2.2 and multiply that by .8 to get the kilograms.
For men it is averages as one gram per each kilogram of weight. So, a man would divide their weight in pounds 2.2 then multiply that by .10

Fats - try not to exceed more than 25 percent fat in your daily diet. 30 is fine, too. That does not mean you can't have a junk food fast food hamburger... it just means that if you do eat that 55 percent fat burger that you are going to have to cut down on other fat filled foods for the rest of the day to balance it out.
Make exchanges gradually. Suppose you drink whole milk...work down to 2 percent. Maybe replacing two of your cups per day until you can completely change over. If you are on two percent milk, work down to 1 percent.

Add bran to your cereals for extra fiber. Do add it in your baking.
You need to balance your diet with vegetables and fruits, too. Try adding different colors to your plate. Maybe an orange yam, and some green beans, to add color. The more variety of food colors, bring more variety of vitamins.

Eat more raw foods.
Remember, exchange things, add things, and do it gradually and remember, live all things in life in moderation and soon you will be bouncy and vibrant and well on your way to living BEAUTIFULLY! Get started now....isn't it about time you make a change? You'll feel better, have more energy and your skin and body will look and feel so much healthier!
