Romancing a Woman

In my opinion, romance is one of the most important things that separates a good relationship from the greatest relationship. It's something that all women love and yet so many of us lack it in our lives. If you can learn to incorporate romance into your life, you will be amazed to see how much your relationships will improve, both emotionally and physically. You'll actually be able to move past the stage where you can't seem to do anything right. You won't have to deal with nearly as much whining, nagging, and shoe throwing as you normally would. And the best part is that you'll actually be able to rediscover the woman who captivated. That's right. Your life is about to change for the better. Here's some dating etiquette advice about romance.

Romance is a nebulous thing with the curious property of being describable but not definable. We won't muck with your head and try to suggest there's an ultimate definitive definition out there. Some people will try to do just that and come up with some tidy little definition, like, "Romance is showing you care." Sure, it sounds good at first, but although draping your coat over a puddle and asking if she remembered to brush her teeth that morning may be actions triggered by this same motivation, they rate distinctly differently on the romance scale.

Although it's not so much a definition, as it is no more precise than the word "romance" itself, one way to describe romance succinctly is "what women want out of a relationship." In other words, men aren't romantic, and if you're a man, that's why you need this guide. If you're a woman, of course, you were born with an innate knowledge of this stuff and need not read further.
But though romance may not be definable, there are still some hard fast rules.

Red is romantic, because red is the color of love and passion. Consider roses.
Romance is personal. To be romantic, you must be personal and do personal kind of things. It's sort of romantic to buy a mooshy greeting card for your loved one, but to be really romantic, you should sign it. As far as birthday presents and so forth go, you can make the gift personal by carefully considering your beloved's interests and choosing a gift uniquely suited to her personality. Flowers always works. Red roses mean, "I love you." If you like her but you don't love her, or you are unsure of it, don't give her red roses, my suggestion is a variety of colors. All yellow says you just want to be friends. White is fresh and new, a bit innocent.

You know that you wish to hold your relationship with your mate special and romance is the complete way to do that. Romance packs heat and love alive in any relationship, but just like most good matters romance comes with a few rules in order to make it work!

Romance can be planned or intuitive and both are perfectly great. Instinctive romance is almost always wonderful because both you and your mate are often viewed up in the moment and you are both sharing an intimate experience together. It is often when you plan romance that slips can be made if you aren't sensible of the principles of romance. Need something intimate for those romancing evenings?

mEn...STrOng as a MuLe aNd TwIcE aS StUbBorN...

Ladies, do you know a man, or are you interested in a man who repeatedly tries to push you away and gives you ludicrous reasons that really make no sense at all?  If so, this is the article for you to read. Maybe he's insecure, or just hurt from previous relationships? Our past has a way of often keeping us in our past no matter how hard we try to push forward. Here are some tips of things you can do to try to without him thinking that you're only trying to "woo" him and show him that you aren't like other women. Whether he wishes to drop his wall long enough to see you waiving the "white flag" is up to him. No amount of talking you can do will change him, so don't even try, it must come from within. Some men change their ways and some just appear to be destin to be a train wreck! He might be stubborn as a mule, but inside there is a good man who needs to be reminded that woman are not all evil.

Don't give up...but don't give in all that easily either. When you make yourself too attentive to his needs, you'll find sooner than later that it is "you" that is going to get the short end of the stick. Although I am in no way saying a relationship like this is not possible, I'm stating that if you meet a man like this sometimes the best thing to do is to let him go. Here are a few tips for you to read up on. Quite important, so take the time to read this;

Tip#1: Don't ever ever ever give a man more than he gives you. This is what I would call a LOSING BATTLE! Here's the 4-1-1; Love, and inspiring a man to fall in love with you forever, is all about you being able to receive love. Sure most of us only know how to give. We give for lots of reasons - because we're taught that's the way to get to a man's heart (it isn't) because we see other women do it, and because deep down, it feels uncomfortable and scary to be vulnerable enough to really get what love is actually? What do I mean by this? When you shower him with affection, attention, dinners, gifts, and always go out of your way, it makes him think of you as a mother or a friend instead of inspiring his emotional desire for you. Knock that shit off. Make him come to you. He doesn't need a road map to your door, if he cares about you enough, he'll get there all by himself. He's a big boy.

Tip#2: Do NOT give away exclusivity if he hasn't yet committed... Mama didn't raise no FOOL!
Here's how it works ladies, and this is in all reality...We become totally, emotionally invested in a man when we're exclusive with him because he has all our time and attention. There's no way we can stop wondering about where the relationship is going? Right?  But the more we think about it and talk about it, the more we push a man away. In this case, we are damned if we do, and damned if we don't. It's like that Katy Perry song, "Hot & Cold" they (and when I say they, I am referring to "MEN") don't know what the hell they want. Grow up boys! Nice women like us are really hard to come by, so if you're looking for a way to really throw a monkey wrench in this it's working! The problem with most men is that they let the wrong people into their lives, and then they tend to push the "right" people out, this including potential lovers or mates. Why? They are afraid to get hurt, again?

When you can think of it in these terms, it's easier to keep your options open and keep your personal power in the relationship. Rather than talking about the relationship or threatening him with ultimatums, which you NEVER EVER EVER want to do....you can continue to keep your options open by dating other men. This way, you keep your class, your power, your boundaries, and he has to work to get you, as he very well should, especially if he is acting like a jerk.

Tip#3: Don't go out of your way, if he is acting weird and distant!
Yes, this sounds unfair, and yet, who pays is often the difference in his mind between friends hanging out together and a “date.” If you can dish it out he'll take it...but what about when they tables are turned? Perhaps he feels threatened or insecure? Is that your problem? How can you help him if he won't let you? Why do men shut women out? Overfunctioning is doing more than your fair share and stepping up to rescue a man because you know you can do a better job. It's arriving from your masculine energy. It feels aggressive and forward to a man. And it's totally unattractive to him. Men just don't operate on the same juice that women do. They are not built with the same type of defensive mechanism we are, theres is far worse!

Tip#4 Make him apologize! No If's and's or But's about it!
I'm sorry guys but there is no excuse for your childish behavior, and this is exactly what it is, you acting like an immature little boy....especially when a woman is seriously trying to do all that she can to get to know you. We all have a wall built up around us that we don't wish to talk about, we've all experienced some sort of pain at least once in our life, but isn't part of getting to know someone sharing with them intimate details of your life that make you feel vulnerable? Is this easy to do? Hell no it's not. Do you really want to chase the right woman away because you think she'll only turn out to be like all of the other "wrong" ones? Nahhh, it's time to suck it up and realize that you are being an ass and treating a woman with much disrespect. Yes men can be pig-headed and stubborn, so can we...I am the first to admit it, but I am also the first to admit when I am wrong and say "I'm Sorry!" Rome wasn't built over night, relationships aren't easy...if there were we'd all be in one right now, wouldn't we?

Alas, enough of the cold shoulder. I still don't know what I was waiting for...and my time was running wild, a million dead-end streets, every time I thought I'd got it made, it seemed the taste was not so sweet, so I turned myself to face me, but I've never caught a glimpse.... time may change me....but I can't trace time.

Well spoken lyrics from David Bowie, for those men who feel that they have been running in circles, that they don't deserve true love, and I mean real true love, not some puppy love or a controlled type of love, but "physical real love" I say to you what I have said to my readers and I will preach to you what my grandmother used to always preach to me; God puts certain people in our lives for a reason, you may not know who, or why it is that they are coming your way, but try to accept it, even if it's only meant to be as a friendship. We know how head strong a man can be, I'm just saying...try.

The Proper Dating Etiquette Tips

Did you ever wonder what is the right and wrong way to do things in a relationship, or even for going on a date? Proper dating etiquette can make or break a good healthy relationship if you don't know how to "play the game." Just what is proper dating etiquette anyway? Are there still etiquette rules that couples must follow? That seems to be the big question these days... Actually, there are several unspoken etiquette rules that you should consider. Whether you are just entering the dating scene, or you just need a refresher course on what is considered proper in regards to dating..who blames who, who is right and who is wrong. Whose fault is it? This behavior might be in business relationships, social functions, and, yes, even in courtship. Of course, today many of those rules are non-existent, but a few still linger, although they may have been changed somewhat.

Proper Dating Etiquette

Today, proper dating etiquette typically involves three main words: kindness, consideration, and again...communication! Above all, a date between two people should involve all three of these. If so, other etiquette details tend to work themselves out. While the earlier decades of the twentieth century might have dictated that a man open the door for a woman, pay for the date, and do all the driving, this no longer always holds true.
In some areas of the country, region may dictate behavior. Customs are often handed down from one generation to the next. If a man was taught to open the door for his mother, then most likely he'll open the door for his date. However, if two people from different cultures collide, communication is the key to a successful relationship. For example, if you are an independent woman who believes that you and your date should split the bill, then say so, and explain why you feel this way. If you are the man DO NOT let the woman split the bill. You're being tested. Fail and you fail miserably! You won't need to worry about etiquette for dating...you'll be looking for a new partner!

Playing the Game

No matter how you look at it, just as there are rules in virtually any game that is played, the dating game involves rules as well. Many of these are actually things you shouldn't do, however. The following is a list of some common do's and don'ts.
  • Don't be late. It's rude to keep anyone waiting, including your date!
  • Be respectful of your date if you smoke. Of course you shouldn't hide the fact that you smoke either, as this may be a defining moment in your relationship's future. Just don't force your date to experience second-hand smoke.
  • Don't be rude. No matter what type of day you've had, be polite to your date, whether this is your first date or your eighty-first date.
  • Don't jump past first base to third. You get what I'm saying. Unless you've already established a relationship with your sweetie, don't become all hands as she or he fights you off!
  • Do ask his or her opinion. Don't act as if the date is all about what ''you want to do''.
  • Do pay for the meal, movie, event, etc. This holds true if you invited the other person, regardless of your gender, unless you have an understanding between the two of you.
  • Do consider your attire. This doesn't mean you have to blow your savings on a designer suit. However, consideration involves not openly trying to embarrass the person whom you are with. Anyone can put on a clean shirt and pressed pants.
  • Don't cheat. What I mean is, don't play the field if your girlfriend or boyfriend thinks the two of you are in a monogamous relationship. While it is perfectly okay to see more than one person, be sure that both parties understand and agree to this arrangement!
  • Finally, don't battle for control. If you have to be the alpha-dog, try not to be so obvious about it! Dating should be a two way street!

Proper Dating Etiquette Tips

When you start dating, following a few rules of thumb will help you be more successful. It's tempting to avoid restating the basics, but the truth is, we all forget them from time to time. Dating is about two people coming together to get to know one another and find out whether they are compatible, then enjoying each other's company and eventually forming a close bond. Don't be arrogant on your date, and try to avoid talking about politics and/or religion in the early stages. You may be very opinionated on certain topics, but that does not mean you're right, or that your opinions won't offend the person you're with. Arrogance makes most people feel uncomfortable, so avoid it at all costs. During this process, there are some important guidelines you should remember:
  • Dating should always be fun, and it's as much your responsibility as it is your partner's to ensure that it is. When you're dating, make sure you do everything you can to make the time you spend together enjoyable.I've been called a real pistol in the past....I tell it like it is, no holding back.
  • Eye contact is crucial, and it's good etiquette to give your date as much of your attention as possible. They should feel like they are the only person in the room. That means no drooling at women across the room.
  • Always be courteous and complimentary. Your date has made an effort to look nice for you, and your negative opinions and comments are unwelcome at this stage.
  • Never ogle your date. It's rude, and it proves that all you care about is the other person's physical appearance. This will turn a woman off faster than almost anything else.
  • Always show up for a date, unless you've given notice and let the other person know you have to cancel. Standing someone up is not acceptable, and it shows contempt for your prospective date by wasting their time. That kind of arrogance is detestable.
  • Always be on time, and never keep your date waiting. No excuses....If your transportation is unreliable, plan ahead and leave early so you can be there when the other person arrives. Being late shows a lack of respect for your date and illustrates how disorganized you are. Women pay attention to this one.
  • Never be flashy or extravagant. This means,.....no John Travolta stuff  from Saturday Night Fever days....or short black dresses that your daughter would wear. There's no need to attempt to impress your partner with your wealth and importance. It shows no taste whatsoever to throw your credit card around and order expensive champagne, unless you're only after cheap thrills and don't care how it makes you look in front of the person you're trying to get to know.
  • Never argue or be rude to others during your date -- it simply is unacceptable. You're trying to show the other person your best qualities, so arguing about the tip or whether the wine is chilled enough will make you look like a fool.
  • Be a good listener, and don't talk your date to death. Listening shows interest and the ability to compromise. If your idea of a date is talking about yourself and your opinions all night, then do the world a favor and stay at home alone.
  • Dress well. In this day and age, there is absolutely no excuse for looking shabby. Dressing poorly shows laziness and will do nothing to make you look good. Furthermore, it shows a lack of respect for your date, who has more than likely made an effort to dress nicely.
  • Make an effort to be clean and smell good. Make sure you're clean-shaven (where applicable), freshly showered and smell nice. It costs you nothing except a bottle of good perfume/cologne and some soap. I don't go anywhere with my Jessica McClintock or Gucci "Envy" find your favorite and wear it. He'll smell your scent for hours after your date is over, and if all went well, it will give him somethign pleasing to think about for date #2.
  • Never swear or use bad language. If you want to find the person of your dreams, you must treat them with respect. It's not classy either. There is where I have to be careful.....I slip sometimes.....nothing too bad, but one might take offense to it.
  • Never discuss your other dates or how many people you've slept with. It's rude and shows you have no class. NO CLASS, (thought that I would repeat that just in case you missed it!)
  • Even if you don't like your date, don't be quick to give them a hard time. Your partner is human and, like you, deserves to always to be treated with respect. You can still have a good time hanging out with someone you're not attracted to, so treating them badly just because they're not your type is unacceptable. Rudeness is not allowed, so don't go there....
  • Never tell lies on a date to get someone into bed or to try to make yourself sound good. You will be found out, and then you will be rejected. Tell the truth, or avoid a subject if necessary.
  • The man should pick up the dinner tab on the first date, and it's probably a bad idea to discuss money at all at this stage. Many people feel that financial discussions are crass and lack sophistication., listen to this one...they do.
  • Make sure your date feels comfortable at all times, and never do anything that might make them uncomfortable. Also, a man should always make sure his date gets home safely in a cab or by other means.
  • Never try to sleep with someone on the first date. Sex comes later. If you sleep together too early, chances are it will be over before it began. Lay that foundation....see if there is enough here to be promote a second date. I have the 3 date rule, but that does NOT mean that you have to sleep with him on that 3rd date, it simply means that if you make it thru 3 dates with me, we ok. Take your time...no hurry, is there?
  • Be as entertaining and witty as possible, and never rely on getting drunk as a fall-back plan. Drinking too much on a date shows that you have no respect for your partner and makes a mockery of the whole situation. It's just not a good idea at all!
  • Call when you say you'll call, no excuses....don't be late....and never EVERRRRRR leave someone hanging. If you didn't have a good time on your date, don't falsely promise anything or leave the door open. Doing so shows great disrespect for the other person, and it's much easier for everyone if you're honest about how you feel.
As for my personal advice, follow your gut, be yourself.....and don't be afraid to say what you feel. How can we possible know what you are thinking if you don't say it? We can't read minds.....
As for me?..... I am the woman who calls it like she sees it, and the gal that wants the best of both worlds.
My grandmother used to have a saying......ladies, you should get a chuckle out of this....
