How To Care For Your Delicates...

You've all heard that saying; Don't get your panties in a bunch, right? Translation: that means be "gentle with them! As you all may very well know, lingerie is manufactured in a variety of fabrics, some that are delicate and some that are less delicate to care for. A really good tip to keep in mind is if your intimate apparel is delicate in nature, we suggest that the garment is washed by hand. After it has been washed, never try to wring the garment to remove any access water from it. This can stretch it out or in most cases, damage or ruin it, especially if it is made with lace. Instead just squeeze the garment gently to remove some of the water and then lay it down flat on a soft towel to air dry or on a plastic hanger.

If the intimate apparel garments you are ready to wash are a little less delicate and you feel better washing them in a washing machine, we suggest that you place them in a garment bag to protect them during the wash cycle. Always separate your dark and light intimate garments and wash them in separate loads. With so many different fabrics used in lingerie designer collections, each fabric needs to be cared for a little differently. Here are some common fabrics that you may come across. You should always read the care instructions on the garments label so that the lingerie garment is cared for properly, otherwise, they may fall apart if you don't follow instructions on their care. 

ACRYLIC – These intimate apparel garments can we washed by hand or in a washing machine if they are less delicate, or if you prefer you can have them dry cleaned. If you decide to machine wash them, make sure that you use warm water and machine dry at a low temperature. If the garments are delicate in nature then hand wash them in warm water with a mild soap detergent, gently squeeze out the water without wringing the garment and air dry on a plastic hanger.

COTTON – Intimate apparel made out of cotton is very easy to wash, since cotton washes well in hot as well as cold water cycles. You may use any good detergent to wash cotton garments. Cotton however is known to wrinkle during any wash cycle, so you need to be ready to iron your lingerie cotton garments to keep them looking their very best. If you place your cotton garments in a dryer you may find that the garment may shrink if the fabric is not already pre-shrunk, so check with the label on the garment.

LINEN – With linen you will need to read the label instructions, because some linen garments will say “Dry Clean Only” on the label. If the linen garment you are washing does not need to be dry cleaned, then keep in mind that just like cotton the linen garment may need to be ironed if the fabric is not crease resistant.

NYLON – This fabric is fairly easy to launder, since generally speaking nylon intimates may be machine washed, using warm water and machine dried at low temperatures. If the garment label suggests that you iron the fabric, then use a warm iron.

POLYESTER – This fabric may generally be machine washed in warm water and machine dried at low temperatures. Just like nylon if the label requires you to iron the garment, then use a warm iron.

RAYON – Generally rayon intimate apparel needs to be Dry Cleaned Only, however if the label suggests otherwise, then you may hand wash or machine wash the garment in cold to lukewarm water. If hand washing squeeze the water out gently without wringing the garment, and hang out to air-dry on a plastic hanger. You may use a cool iron to bring rayon garments looking their very best.

SILK – This fabric is very delicate and one must read the label for care instructions. Almost all silk intimate apparel garments need to be Dry Cleaned Only. If you have a silk garment that states on the label that it may be laundered, then make sure that you hand wash in a mild soap in lukewarm water and air dry. Silk should never have chlorine bleach applied to it.

SPANDEX – This fabric is fairly easy to care for. You may machine or hand wash spandex and rinse well when done. To machine dry spandex use a low temperature setting, and if you hand wash it then just let it drip dry. If the label calls for ironing use a low iron temperature setting.

Proper Dress Code Etiquette for the Professional Woman

When you just happen to reside in larger cities where fashion awaits you at every corner that can make it really tough to stand out and it’s so hard to be stylish and look professional when you feel as if you are just blending in. Dressing for a job, an interview, an internship, a networking event, etc. is a major source of anxiety for everyone at some point in their career. We wake up day after day pondering what to wear, and we often are up late the evening before trying to decide what outfit would look best. Regardless of what you do and where you work, I'm here to tell you that each and every company and event is different, so it can be more than simply nerve-racking not knowing what the proper dress code is, what you can and can’t wear, etc.  You want to make the best impression, of course, and your clothes say a lot about you & who you are, yes? 

There’s also the question of what season it is, what city you’re working in, this is a big one because when I lived in Michigan I wore winter dress and attire to work, but when I lived in Houston Texas where winter there was still warmer and women still wore skirts, dresses and suits with no stockings or pantyhose, I realized quickly that I would have to try to change my ways or I stuck out like a sore thumb. Another thing to consider is this; whether you walk to work or not, and whether you’ll be sitting or standing most of the time...these things are amongst some of the concerns. Yikes! Types of Business Attire

There are 3 main types of "business dress" that you truly need to understand before we approach the subject of how to dress for specific events.  These are probably terms you’ve heard before, but after reading this, you should have amuck better understanding of what clothes work for what dress code.  The three types of dress codes are: Professional Dress, Business Casual and Campus Casual. Learn them, and live them, for they will be all that you ever need to know and it will make getting dresses a bit less demanding, not to mention stressful.

1. Professional Dress

This is the most conservative type of business wear.  It’s what you’ll be expected to wear in the office if you work in accounting, finance, or other conservative industries.  For women, this means a business suit or pants suit, or dress and jacket.  For men, professional dress means a business suit or a blazer, dress pants and a tie. 

2. Business Casual

Personally I prefer this one! This is a more relaxed version of "Professional Dress", but it doesn’t mean you’re actually going to be casual. This is likely going to be your office dress code if you work in a semi-conservative workplace, but some interviews and events may also call for business casual.  Basically, business casual is a shirt with a collar and/or a sweater, khakis or dress pants and nice shoes for women.  Women can also sometimes wear a moderate length dress or skirt (read: knee-length or longer...this is no time to be showing the legs and tush in a clubbing skirt with a huge slip up the side...keep that for weekends when you are in an entirely different atmosphere indeed.)  For men, business casual is a polo shirt or shirt with a collar and/or sweater, khakis or dress pants and dress shoes.  No tie is required

3. Campus Casual

Do you attend school or work on a campus? If the answer is no, then my friend, campus casual is what you probably won’t be wearing to work.  This is simply the technical term for what you’re probably wearing every day – jeans, tee shirts, flip flops, sneakers.  You may be asked to wear campus casual to some very informal on-campus interviews and career days, and some casual networking events.  In general, you probably want to stay away from this in the workplace and err towards more conservative dress codes and trends.

I can give my own non-professional advice all day, but it is how you act that will determine if you are her last first kiss or not. I have a lot of guy friends that have told me time and time again that they've dated countless women and it has always intrigue me as to really how little they honestly really do know about women.

 What you need to do fellas is listen to her, and her needs....I mean really truly listen! If you don't and you are too busy starring at her chest trying to figure out her cup size, you will NEVER make it to date number two and you can kiss the sweet thoughts of possible sex with her goodbye forever! A woman wants the romance, not the one night stand kind of guy. She wants the host man, not the one that disappears on weekends, that calls or texts only at certain times of the day, and one that just does nice things for her because he cares. If she even has the sneaking suspicion that he is lying about who he is or his marital status, he is history and to those men that think that can have their cake and eat it too...I say you better find a new bakery because your batter is about to sink! 

A woman wants her happy ever after...so let me ask you this? What kind of guy are you? What do you desire in dating and or in relationships? Do you want to be in 'like' forever, or do you want to fall in love at some point? What are you waiting for? Is it fear of rejection, or love not happening at all? If you waste most of your life away thinking about it, you won't allow the right person to walk in when it's time. You'll be too busy condemning those that were 110% all wrong for you. Get over it or you surely will grow old alone.

Some people might say that they are tired of wasting their time...my thought is this, with each date, or relationship try to learn from it. If you are with someone though and it just isn't right, or f it doesn't feel like they are that 'wonder drug' for you that gives you energy and ambition to want to be in a relationship with them then my friend you've got some things to sort through. Most women want that 'can't eat, can't sleep' feeling...if you don't feel it, it may be time to talk to them on an adult level and either try something else hoping to make it work, and by this I mean; trying harder to fix what is wrong or move on!

This is how it works: a lot of guys are looking for someone to have a serious relationship with, but what many of my guy friends tell me that most of them have dated girls that have ultimately turned out to be less than what we were looking for. In some cases, much, much less...and that can be disappointing to say the least. What happens is simple; after weeks or months of effort, the relationship ends and although both parties may walk away having learned a few lessons...they wasted a lot of time. Truth be told boys, and some of you might just disagree with me, but truthfully, it can take dozens of these attempts to meet someone that sparks a deep kind of interest where there is that 'spark!' I don't think love can happen a first glance, although, I've not ruled it out. I just don't think that it happens every day.

 Given those odds, and the amount of investment required to decide if any given female could be a girlfriend, fiancé or spouse, now I understand the cynicism most men have going into a first date. I know men, and I'll tell you this...there is essentially a zero chance that a man will refuse sex on a first date if he has the chance: oh sure, she could be “the one,” but really? Truth be told that in all respect, and stasticically speaking.... she probably won’t be, and it definitely isn’t worth turning down easy sex to find out. Men and women do think differently. I think for women when we have sex there becomes more of an emotional attachment.

Do you want a house of love that stands the test of time, or one that sinks like quick sand because you didn't open your hart up entirely and be truthful? We all make mistakes, and we all have flaws.
