Ladies...Fuel Your Body and Tone Up

Are you looking for a New Years Resolution to tone your body and turn some heads? If so, you are in the right place. I have a few tips on how to get started, then the remainder of it is going to be up to you, your diet and your exercise habits. We all want to build our muscles so that we are more tone, and not flabby. Finding out how to build strength and increase muscle mass is simple. It really comes down to two things: working out, and giving your body the right fuel.

A proper warm-up consists of two phases:

  1. A graduated aerobic warm-up activity - This is a warm-up to get the blood flowing to the muscles. This also heats up the working muscles making them less prone to injury. Any aerobic activity done at the very low intensity can serve to warm-up the muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
  2. Stretching and flexibility – This is to be performed on the muscle groups you will be exercising during the cardiovascular activity. (An example would be a quadriceps stretch before bicycling).
The warm-up phase should last anywhere from 5 – 10 mins.

Cool Down

The purpose of a cool down is to slowly decrease the cardiovascular work and overall metabolism that were elevated during the cardiovascular activity. A cool down consists of slowing down the intensity level of the cardiovascular activity you are performing slowly. Stopping exercise suddenly can be dangerous. A cool down keeps the body circulating blood and keeps blood from pooling in the veins. A proper cool down should last about 5 – 10 min for each thirty minutes of exercise if the cardiovascular activity is performed for longer periods or is of higher intensity the cool down phase should last longer.

How To Build Body Work Outs:
Obviously, body builders have to train. There is no shortcut here, although of course there are ways to increase the effectiveness of the training that you do. The first of these ways is to make sure that you have an efficient bodybuilding workout routine.

What does this mean? Well... this means deciding which exercises you will do on which days. It is vital to plan this because each muscle needs at least one full day recovery time between workouts. The workout breaks down the muscle and the recovery time is when it builds up again, stronger than before. That's why more training is not necessarily better.

To build muscle size rather than strength, aim for sets of around 10 reps with a short rest of around 1 minute between sets. The importance of good form cannot be over emphasized. You must learn to do each exercise correctly in the beginning when you are learning how to build body and have somebody check your form from time to time too. A qualified trainer is best. If you must learn from a video, at least have a buddy there to watch that you are doing everything correctly. You cannot work out and look in the mirror at the same time.

You need to push your muscles to fatigue, so that they are stressed enough to trigger the muscle building during recovery time. However, you should never exercise beyond the point where you have good form. Your last rep should be the last one that you can do with perfect form. If you get tired sooner, reduce the weight; if you could have done several more, increase it.
It helps to have someone that will act as spotter when you are figuring this out, especially on a bench press. They can help you with the weight and avoid accidents if you find you have lifted one rep too far. Don't over do it...

Do You Know How To Build Your Body With The Right Fuel?

When you want to build muscle rather than fat it is vital to have the right food. Avoid junk and sugary foods and concentrate on proteins and complex carbohydrates. Might I stress very seriously to drink plenty of water through the day. Cut down on alcohol.Alcohol will dehydrate you!

Proteins include meat and dairy but it also includes beans, nuts and seeds. There is even some protein in vegetables. Complex carbohydrates are whole grain carbs such as brown rice, whole grain bread, oatmeal, corn etc, plus fruit and starchy vegetables like potatoes and carrots.

Most bodybuilders add whey protein, creatine or other supplements to their diets. Do remember though that these are not intended to replace a healthy diet, only to supplement it. During your workout, choose a sports drink that includes protein as well as carbs. This is the best combination for reducing muscle damage plus fast muscle building and recovery. Follow this with a high carb drink or snack within a half hour after your workout, to stimulate glycogen production. Remember...eat often and eat smaller meals to keep your body's supply of fuel steady and even. Figure out some healthy snacks. When it comes to learning how to build body and muscle mass, it is much better to have 5-6 small meals than 2-3 large ones.

7 Reasons for Women to Drink WINE

We like to go out with our friends but we're always wondering 'what's the best thing to drink?' Hey, we are always counting calories not to mention following health trends and risks. When it comes to reducing your risk of heart disease and cancer, there aren't many easy and pleasurable methods of prevention. That might be why studies touting the health benefits of red wine consumption always get a lot of attention. So, is red wine really the toast of the town when it comes to health paybacks? The answer is yes and no. While properties in red wine do help prevent heart disease and some cancers, and reduce inflammation caused by arthritis, these benefits aren't unique to red wine. The antioxidants in red wine may be more concentrated than in other foods because of the fermentation process they go through. New research suggests women who drink a moderate amount of alcohol on a regular basis, particularly when red wine is the drink of choice, are less likely to experience long-term weight gain than non-drinkers. Have a glass of wine with your friends when you go out. There are less calories in wine than in many mixed drinks that will go to straight to your hips!

1. Feed your head
Wine could preserve your memory, and let me tell you, as we age, we want to preserve as much as everything as we can! When researchers gave memory quizzes to women in their 70s, those who drank one drink or more every day scored much better than those who drank less or not at all. Wine helps prevent clots and reduce blood vessel inflammation, both of which have been linked to cognitive decline and heart disease, explains Tedd Goldfinger, DO, of the University of Arizona School of Medicine. Alcohol also seems to raise HDL, the so-called good cholesterol, which helps unclog your arteries.

2. Keep the scale in your corner
Studies find that people who drink wine daily have lower body mass than those who indulge occasionally; moderate wine drinkers have narrower waists and less abdominal fat than people who drink liquor. Alcohol may encourage your body to burn extra calories for as long as 90 minutes after you down a glass. Beer seems to have a similar effect. OK, this is all that I needed to read...anything to assist me in losing some of my ass is fine with me. Drink in moderation, please, and never drink and drive.

 3. Boost your body’s defenses
In one British study, those who drank roughly a glass of wine a day reduced by 11% their risk of infection by Helicobacter pylori bacteria, a major cause of gastritis, ulcers, and stomach cancers. As little as half a glass may also guard against food poisoning caused by germs like salmonella when people are exposed to contaminated food, according to a Spanish study.

4. Guard against the ovarian woes
When Australian researchers recently compared women with ovarian cancer to cancer-free women, they found that roughly one glass of wine a day seemed to reduce the risk of the disease by as much as 50 percent. Earlier research at the University of Hawaii produced similar findings. Experts suspect this may be due to antioxidants or phytoestrogens, which have high anticancer properties and are prevalent in wine. In a recent University of Michigan study, a red wine compound helped kill ovarian cancer cells in a test tube.

5. Build better bones
On average, women who drink moderately seem to have higher bone mass than abstainers. Alcohol appears to boost estrogen levels; the hormone seems to slow the body’s destruction of old bone more than it slows the production of new bone.

6. Prevent blood-sugar trouble
Premenopausal women who drink one or two glasses of wine a day are 40 percent less likely than women who don’t drink to develop type 2 diabetes, according to a 10-year study by Harvard Medical School. While the reasons aren’t clear, wine seems to reduce insulin resistance in diabetic patients.

7. Cooking with Wine

Here are my favorite ways to use wine in light cooking:
  • Wine helps cook and add flavor to fish. Deep-fried fish dipped in tartar sauce, albeit tasty, defeats the nutritional purpose of eating fish. One way to add flavor and moisture to fish without adding fat is to cook it with wine. You can add wine to the pan while the fish is simmering, poach the fish over a saucepan of boiling wine, or drizzle fish with a tablespoon or two of wine and bake it in a foil package.
  • Wine is a great ingredient in marinades. Wine is basically an acid ingredient (which helps tenderize the outside of the meat) and it has a lot of flavor. The wine-based marinade helps keep meat, poultry, or seafood moist while it cooks, too.
  • Wine can help cook and simmer foods. Add wine to dishes you're cooking in a skillet on the stove, in a slow cooker, or in the oven. Simmered along with the food, it adds flavor and moisture to whatever dish you're making.
  • Wine can be used in baking, too! For certain types of cakes, using wine or sherry in place of some of the fat not only lightens up the cake but adds complimentary flavors.

Lose 5 Pounds...Feel Sexier!

Everyone somewhere is complaining about the dreaded weight gain issues. So tell me, how many times have you heard someone say that they want to lose five pounds? How many times have you heard that the diet starts tomorrow? That was my typical line each and every day. There is a certain lack of will power that often, more so than not I have with the word "diet." When I say I am going to go on a diet I only want to eat more, then I gain an additional 5 pounds, so now I have 10 pounds to lose...sound familiar? That's my story and I'm sticking to it! I'm better at just curving my appetite and watching what goes in my mouth. I exercise a few times a week now also. So do you want to lose weight? Honey, it's not going to fall off you itself, so get up off that ass and get a plan! Exercise, dance, go try kick boxing...or yoga booty ballet (my personal favorite!) So when are you going to start? Today....Tomorrow? What? Why not right now? When you weight less, even if it's just a few pounds less...you are more confident and your feel sexier! It's a fact. As James Brown once sang..."Get up offa that thing!"

The truth is, losing a mere five pounds is very realistic and it can be a great kick-start to your metabolism and energy levels. Plus, it can help you fit into that little black dress or suit for that upcoming wedding, reunion, or vacation. Truth is though,...you have to make the commitment to start now, not tomorrow, not Monday, but right now!

Below is a healthy plan to help you shed 5 pounds quickly, easily and most importantly, the healthy way. As with all diets, check with your doctor before starting any weight loss or exercise plan.

1. Begin by drinking more water. Your body requires water to function properly and with the right amount of water, your digestive system will work more efficiently. Plus, by filling your stomach with water, you'll eat less and feel full faster.
  • Water helps flush your body of toxins and water weight. Yes, more water actually helps your body get rid of excess water.
  • The daily minimum intake of water is 64 ounces (or almost 2 liters). If you're like most people, your current intake of water is probably less than half of the recommended amount, so drink up!
2. Get off the couch and get active...Yeah YOU! When you move your body you build muscle, which burns fat. Don't you want to burn that fat away? There are so many activities that you can engage in that don't cost money or require expensive gym equipment to help you get fit and lose weight. Here are some ideas:
  • Walking around your neighborhood or in a local park
  • Biking
  • Hiking
  • Swimming
  • Throwing a ball with your kids or spouse
  • Frisbee
  • Volleyball
  • Tennis
  • Dancing
3. Make healthier food choices. To effectively boost your calorie and fat burning processes, eat healthier foods like leafy green vegetables, fruits and lean meats.
  • You'll also want to limit your intake of red meat, high calorie and fat dressings, gravies and sauces and avoid sugary drinks, candy or other foods with lots of sugar.
  • Sugar causes you to put on weight, so when you eliminate sugar, you help eliminate weight gain. Also, try to choose natural or organic foods in order to avoid consuming chemicals that may actually cause you to retain weight.
4. Use portion control to limit the amount of food you consume. Studies show that reducing the amount of food you eat actually produces the quickest weight loss. Obviously you want to do this in a healthy manner, not obsessively or out of control.
  • Eating 6 small meals a day, as opposed to the three larger meals you're probably accustomed to, has been shown to be healthier, help reduce fat stores and to increase metabolism.
  • If you're wondering what a healthy portion looks like, it's all in the hands. In other words, a healthy portion or serving size is about the size of your fist, palm, or hand, depending on what food you're eating.
  • Close your fist. That's a healthy portion size for a serving of rice, pasta or other side dish.
  • Open your hand and look at the size of your palm. This is the perfect amount of chicken breast, pork or other types of meat. It should be about the size and thickness of a deck of cards.
  • The size of your entire open hand is the perfect size for veggies.
5. Replace unhealthy snacks with nuts, raw veggies or fruit. Here are a few examples to help you choose healthier snack options:
  • When you're craving chips or other salty, crunchy snacks, grab a handful of nuts instead. They are healthier for you and satisfy the craving for salt or crunchiness. Also, try to buy nuts with less salt. Natural or raw varieties will help to reduce your salt intake too.
  • When you want something sweet, grab a piece of fruit like an apple, banana, orange, or melon. The natural sugar is way better for you than eating a bowl of ice cream or a handful (or two) of cookies.
  • Have the munchies in general? Nibble on some raw carrots, celery or broccoli. There are foods that help stop the hunger other than a Reese's Cup or a Snicker Bar...really, there is! Find foods that are healthier!
Losing 5 pounds can be fun and make you feel so much better about yourself. Probably the best part is that it can be done quickly, in as little time as a week or two, depending on your specific circumstances.

Whether it's to kick-start your weight loss plan or to fit into that little black party dress,or that sexy lingerie from www.SimplyDeliciousLingerie.com taking off 5 pounds is a step in the right direction to a healthier, more fit you. It begins now! Let's get started shall we?

Buttock Implants...Things You Should Know

Ever wished for buttocks that had a little more shape? So many women do, myself in this case...I don't need it, I have enough curve and cushion for 10 women, nonetheless, for the women who would like to add a little junk to their trunk, I've decided to write a bit regarding this for you today. Although for many years cultural standards of beauty were dominated by thin, linear figures, the balance has slowly been swinging in favor of more curvaceous body shapes, including an appreciation for properly proportioned buttocks, the type of buttocks many women are unable to achieve on their own. As a result, buttock augmentation has grown in popularity in recent years.

Women who want a larger and rounder backside can undergo an enhancement known as buttock augmentation. It seems that there are a variety of reasons that drives women to get any type of enhancement procedure. Most have to do with their own self-image, although what is viewed as desirable in the popular culture may have an influence. Although the particular feature of butt augmentation would appear to be emulating a body shape that many black women naturally possess, that does not seem to be the goal. Well it can be yours with the help of buttock implants. Also known as gluteal implants or buttock augmentation this surgical procedure involves the insertion of artificial implants in order to improve the size and shape of the buttocks.

This surgery is most often sought after by women who feel that their derriere is too flat and not round or sensuous enough looking for their taste. It is believed that the rise in this type of surgery in recent years has to do with the popularity of actress/singer Jennifer’s Lopez’s shapely figure. Singer Beyonce Knowles is another celebrity whose behind many women wish to replicate in themselves. Not only that but buttocks implants can plump up an underdeveloped backside and give a woman a much more proportional looking figure.

At your initial consultation with the plastic surgeon a number of things will be discussed. First of all as the patient you must discuss why you want to change the appearance of your buttocks and what you hope to achieve by having buttocks implants. It would be helpful if you bring pictures with you of buttock sizes you personally like the look of for your own. The plastic surgeon will be able to inform you of what size buttocks implants will be needed to reshape your backside. He/she will also discuss options for the surgery with you at that time. Some of the items that are necessary for you to know include the type of incision that will be made, the kind of implant that will be used, as well as the exact positioning of the implant. At this time you should make your doctor aware of any pre-existing health conditions you have as well as any medication you are taking. Find about the type of anesthesia that will be used during the procedure, what the procedure involves, how long it will take to perform, whether or not you will suffer discomfort afterwards and how long the recovery period will be. Any and all questions you have should be addressed at this time.

This type of surgery generally takes place over a period of two to three hours and depends on a variety of factors including the technique that the surgeon decides upon, the patient’s anatomy, the positioning of the buttocks implants and the type of anesthesia that is used for the procedure. Most of the time for this kind of surgery a general anesthesia is used (patient is asleep), however some surgeons prefer to use a local anesthetic accompanied by a sedative to allow the patient to be both relaxed and drowsy.

The incision for buttock augmentation can be made either down the crease of the buttocks or where the cheek of the butt meets the back of the thigh. The majority of the time the incision is made in the crease because the scars from the surgery will not be evident. However the drawback to this type of incision is that infections are more likely to occur here than if it is made in the back of the thigh.

The surgeon needs to create a “pocket” that is big enough to allow for the insertion of the buttocks implants. The implants can be placed in one of two places, either on top of the gluteus maximus muscle or under it. In some cases liposuction is also performed at the same time to remove excess fat, thus making for even better looking buttocks.

After finishing one side the surgeon then does the same to the other, making sure that both sides of the buttocks are natural looking as well as symmetrical. Finally to conclude the operation he/she stitches up the incisions.
Unfortunately this form of surgery carries with it the risk of a lot of pain afterwards as buttock augmentation stretches and pulls the tissues. The stretching is the worst if the implants were placed under the gluteus maximus muscle. The first 48 hours can be the most difficult for pain but it lessens after that time period. Taking a pain medication could help to relieve the discomfort somewhat. Many plastic surgeons will prescribe both an antibiotic as well as an anti-inflammatory medication to their patients after surgery.

Upon waking after the procedure, the patient is going to feel pretty sore, stiff and most likely, very tired. These symptoms are all very normal. A compression garment is put on patients after surgery for support and it should remain in place for the first few days following the surgery. Taking your medication as prescribed is very important in regards to healing. As a patient, you will not be able to drive yourself home and very likely will need someone to help you around the house for a couple of days afterwards. Most people find it necessary, and more comfortable to stay in bed for the first 24 hours after surgery. Rest and await your beautiful bum.

Breast Augmentation- What You Need to Know Before

Women have many reasons for wanting breast augmentation cosmetic surgery. Their left and right breast may not be the same size, so they feel self-conscious about it. Some women may have little to no breasts in which to properly fill out bras and clothing. Being self-conscious about their bodies can undermine their self-confidence and esteem. Other women might be considering breast augmentation after having a mastectomy. In all of these cases, the most likely scenario is breast implants. In fact, when it comes to creating breasts or enhancing the size, implants are really the only option for women. As with all medical procedures, there are many things to think about in regards to having breast augmentation cosmetic surgery.

Why is it done?
Breast enlargement surgery is done to increase the size of the breasts and enhance their shape. You may decide to get breast implants to:
  • Enhance breasts you consider too small. The definition of what is "too small" (or too large, for that matter) varies from woman to woman. There is no universal standard below which breasts are considered too small. If you are content with the size of your breasts, then they are not too small.
  • Restore the size or shape of the breasts after significant weight loss or pregnancy. A breast lift may be done at the same time as the enlargement in these cases.
  • Make the breasts more evenly proportioned. In many women, one breast may be larger or sit higher than the other.
Breast implants may also be used to reconstruct breasts after surgery for breast cancer.

Listed below are but a few of those things you should think about when it comes to getting breast implants as part of your surgery:

1. The risks – Are you fully prepared for all the risks of breast augmentation surgery? If not, please read this because there are some things that you really need to know.
There are numerous complications that can occur when receiving a breast implant. Are there any risks? There sure are;
  • Loss of feeling in the nipples or breast tissue due to nerve damage. Often this is temporary, but it may be permanent in some women.
  • Differences in size or shape of the breasts after surgery.
  • Changes in the implant. Normal activity or an injury to the breast can damage the implant, causing it to leak, deflate, or rupture. Over time, the implant may harden, develop ripples, shift position, or change shape. Surgery may be needed to remove the implant and replace it (if desired) if any of these changes occur.
  • Infection (not common). This can occur at any time, but it typically occurs during the first week after surgery. In some cases of infection, the implant may have to be removed for several months and then replaced.
  • Blood collection under the skin, or hematoma (uncommon).
  • Abnormal scarring (uncommon).
2. Types of breast implants – While silicone breast implants are not commonly used these days, they are still available. Numerous studies have been conducted regarding the rupture factor of silicone implants. Some scientists say that certain autoimmune or neurological diseases can occur if a silicone leakage occurs. Another camp of scientists says that there is no valid evidence that points to those risks. In any case, silicone implants are soft and malleable and many women who have them say that they produce a more natural looking breast.

Saline implants are safer, especially if an accidental rupture occurs. Because the main ingredients are saline and water, it is easily absorbed by the body. Saline implants are firmer than the silicone version. And with saline, there are more options to choose from in regards to shape, size and adjustments. Some versions of the saline implant have tiny valves where your cosmetic surgeon can add additional saline or take some out, depending on the size and shape you want. With this option, an outpatient clinic visit to perform the adjustment can be done practically up to six months after your surgery.

3. Breast implant placement – The placement of your breast implant is partly up to you and partly up to the surgeon. You have to know all of your options and decide which one is right for you. Once your cosmetic surgeon evaluates you, they will have a good idea on what method of placement would be most beneficial to you. One type of placement puts the implant between the muscle of the chest and the breast tissue. Recovery time is shorter and not as painful, but the drawback is that the implant might be able to be seen through your skin and mammograms are more difficult to conduct. The second type of placement is behind the chest muscle. The recovery time is tougher, but there are slightly less risks with his option and mammograms are easier to conduct.

4. Living with no guarantees – Unfortunately, breast augmentation and breast implants come with no guarantees. Just think about the risks that were mentioned above! There are also no guarantees that the result you get will be exactly what you want. While the cosmetic surgeons try to make incisions where they will be less noticeable, you will always have scars to serve as a reminder of your time under the knife. Luckily, clothing hides these scars..,but so many things can go wrong.

5. Choosing a cosmetic surgeon – You want to feel comfortable allowing a stranger to basically cut you open. So it pays off to do a little research of the cosmetic surgeons in your area. Ask around. If a neighbor or family member has had cosmetic surgery, find out who they went to. Get several opinions and compare what each surgeon tells you. Check their credentials and see if there have been any complaints (or praises) through the various governing medical boards. Need more information?
Research breast enlargements today!

What To Expect After Surgery

Immediately after the surgery, gauze is taped over the stitched incisions, and the breasts are wrapped in an elastic bandage or supported by a special bra. The stitches may be removed in 7 to 10 days.
Most women have some swelling, bruising, and soreness in their breasts for several days after the procedure. Medicine can help relieve the pain. Swelling and bruising may last for several weeks. Some women also have a burning sensation in their nipples right after surgery. Wearing a supportive bra 24 hours a day can help reduce swelling and support the breasts while they heal.
Most women can resume their normal work and social activities within a few days, unless those activities involve heavy lifting or strenuous exercise. Your doctor will tell you when you can return to more vigorous exercise and activities.

Having more than one procedure at the same time, such as a breast lift and breast enlargement, increases the risk of problems after the surgery. Implants as part of your breast augmentation cosmetic surgery is something to not be taken lightly. After all, you have to live with the consequences.

Consider the steps listed above and hopefully you will make the best informed decision for your future. Stretch Marks...Does Your Body Look Like a Road Map?

None of us like to talk about them, but oh so many of us have them. Your body looks great one minute and the next you feel like you should just stick a detour sign on you to hide the undesired marks on your skin. We wake up one day and it's like 'oops there it is!' We get them in a variety of places. Stretch marks are often prominent in the buttocks, breasts, thighs, hips and arm areas... Of course they are, why would they be where we can hide them, that would be far too easy. They show up when you really don't want them to and there is no getting rid of them, at least there is no quick fix that I am aware of. Stretch marks also appear on men, and effect people of any age. There is a genetic factor involved, as well as your diet and hydration levels.

Our skin needs certain vitamins and nutrients, and if your diet isn't adequate your skin wont be as resilient. They affect people with all complexions, in all countries around the globe. Drink lots of liquid...so don't forget the h2O! Now, normally stretch marks are not dangerous to our health, but they can make us feel bad about our appearance and lead to stress. Our skin generally has the ability to stretch to accommodate increase in the size of our body. But when the skin is excessively stretched, its fibers break which cause the scars that we know as the dreaded stretch marks.

This would explain why stretch marks occur when we go through sudden increase in weight. Pregnant women, adolescents experiencing bodily changes, body builders who develop extra muscles and overweight individuals are most commonly afflicted with this. The rapid expansion of the body is too much for the amount of collagen the body can produce, hence resulting to stretch marks.
Heredity could also determine the appearance of stretch marks. If stretch marks run in your family, you are most probably prone to it as well. This is why stretch marks develop in some pregnant women and not in others. I never had them during or after my pregnancy. I piled on the coco butter and my skin was lubricated , smooth, and soft.

Hormones are also a big factor. Did you know that? Yup, this is a big cause for why our bodies change in a variety of ways. If our body produces an excessive amount of the hormone glucocorticoid, this prevents our body from producing proteins like collagen which are responsible for making our skin elastic. Usually, our hormone levels increase during pregnancy, puberty, and obesity, with the resulting increase in glucocorticoid which then lead to the formation of stretch marks.
Age is also a factor. The older we get, the less our body is able to produce collagen and elastin, which makes our skin pliable and strong. This development also causes the appearance of wrinkles in our skin and is one of the main causes of stretch marks on the breasts.

Stretch marks are the result of skin being stretched beyond its natural elasticity. This stretching causes a disruption of the body’s collagen production. Collagen is a special protein that helps keep the skin elastic and, therefore, able to stretch when we gain weight. When this collagen production is disrupted, however, the skin loses its elasticity, which makes it more prone to stretch marks. When you get a stretch mark, you know it. They are usually found in a series as small, indented streaks. They are generally rough and uneven. In women with light skin, they are usually a pink or reddish-brown color. They might sometimes almost look purple. For darker skinned women, stretch marks are usually brown.

Genetics plays a larger role in whether or not a woman will develop stretch marks. So, if a woman’s family member, particularly her mom or her sister, has stretch marks, she is more likely to get them as well.

To help avoid getting stretch marks, it is important to monitor weight gain closely. Pregnant women need to put on weight as a natural part of the childbearing process. They should, however, be very careful to not gain more weight than what is recommended by the doctor. Pregnant woman should not, of course, starve themselves in order to avoid stretch marks. They should, however, take care to watch their diets and put pregnancy weight on slowly. This gives the skin more time to gradually stretch to accommodate for the growing baby inside.

The last trimester of a pregnancy is when women generally put on the most weight. This is because this is when the baby is doing most of its growing. To help avoid stretch marks during this time of the pregnancy, and at any other time, be sure to regularly apply coco butter to the skin. As always though, do check with your doctor first.

Why Lotion? It helps decrease the likelihood of developing stretch marks because it helps keep the skin flexible. Likewise, drinking plenty of fluids helps maintain the skin’s elasticity. Therefore, a pregnant woman should be sure to drink plenty of fluids.

Fortunately, stretch marks generally fade after weight is lost. For women who gain stretch marks during pregnancy, stretch marks usually fade to a slightly lighter color than the surrounding skin, though the etching will always remain.

For women who are bodybuilders, it is important to put on muscle mass slowly. Quickly adding on muscle mass will force the skin to stretch beyond its ability. Therefore, a bodybuilding program should be designed to slowly add on bulk.

For women who are not pregnant and who are not bodybuilders, the best way to avoid stretch marks is to simply monitor your diet and maintain a healthy body weight. Drinking plenty of water is still recommended, as they helps keep the skin more pliable.

Did you know that many women used over-the-counter sunless tanning lotions to hide the marks, or they get a sunless tanning treatment from a salon. These lotions help even out the skin color, since the pigmentation of stretch marks is lighter than the rest of the skin. Getting a real tan, however, does not have the same effect because stretch marks are scarred tissue and scarred tissue does not tan the same as healthy tissue.

Through precautions and a healthy lifestyle, women can avoid getting stretch marks. Some of life’s big life-changes, such as puberty and childbirth, however, can make avoiding stretch marks nearly impossible. Therefore, it’s important to apply lotions and drink plenty of fluids to keep the skin elastic and, if all else fails, cover up those stretch marks and chalk it up as just another part of being a woman. Now we have to deal with our bodies looking like a road map? Isn't that just great?

Cosmetic Enhancements...Are they Necessary?

Do you look in the mirror some days and wonder what you would look like with a firmer ass,  larger boobs, no flab on your tummy or thighs, perhaps a smaller nose? Of course you have... Everyone has thought of making changes to their appearance at one time or another and often women and men decide to just go a head with a cosmetic surgery. The things is...you can't let others tell you what to do or what not to do. It is your body and only you can choose if you wish to enhance it. In my honest opinion, I think that some people get carried away with their looks.

My grandmother used to say "Be grateful for what God has given you and accept it." For the most part I think we do accept our bodies, but in some cases there are times that we need that extra boost for our confidence...and my grandmother was very old fashion. If we don't like our looks we have weaknesses and insecurities. An enhancement is something that you should do if there is a reason for it, not because you are bored with your body and want to make changes. Some people are born with features beyond their control. Some people have been in accidents and need surgeries, others are just obsessed. Once you have made the decision to get cosmetic surgery, it is time to decide who to contact for your cosmetic surgery needs. When choosing a surgeon consider following the step by step guide below:

Do some research: If you need to know who the best surgeon in your area is for the particular type of change you want done on your body, ask one of your friends, check the local hospital, or search the Internet. All these methods of cosmetic surgeons are legitimate. Get a second opinion if it gives you a peace of mind.

Check the surgeon’s credentials: Furthermore, you should check the surgeon’s credentials. It is important not only that this type of surgeon is a medical doctor, but that this medical doctor has training specifically in cosmetic surgery. Usually when you interview with a doctor, you will see on the wall that doctor's practicing licenses, as well as the areas of medical study the doctor has expertise in. You may even ask where else the doctor has worked, and follow up on a reference check.

If you are sent to a doctor to whom you were referred by a friend or family member, you can ask the person who referred you some questions. Remember, no question is a dumb question, and you should ask that person everything you want to know, in order to make sure that doctor is also right for you.

Take a look at photos of previous patients: Often a cosmetic surgeon will have before and after pictures of reconstructive surgery of patients. Some patients have had wrinkles removed, breasts enlarged or reduced, hair transplants, liposuction, jaw surgery, buttocks reshaping, and fat transfers. If you are impressed with the change of these people, then you are most likely to feel comfortable with this surgeon's work.

See how you may look after surgery: Some of the best cosmetic surgeons will show you a computer simulation which will represent how you will look after surgery. This has helped many people decide if the surgery is worth the time, cost, and energy.

Find out about recovery plans: Big issue here...make sure that you get all the information otherwise you may not take enough time off of work. This is the most important aspect of choosing a surgeon for your reconstructive needs. A good cosmetic surgeon will tell you what to do during the weeks proceeding and following the cosmetic surgery, such as the affects of surgery, and what to expect during the healing process. In addition, that surgeon will also need to know how long before and after you will be allowed to eat, what diet you should be on, and the emotional effects of patients after surgery. Likewise, that same doctor will guide you in how to deal with the reaction of family, friends and co-workers who may have mixed feelings about your decision to get cosmetic surgery.

Find out what technical procedures are used: Modern technological equipment used in cosmetic surgery includes lasers, endoscopes, computers and more. Equipment such as this will speed up the surgery process, shorten the recovery time, and reduce the amount of pain following surgery. Make sure that you find out the risks and benefits of each type of surgery equipment before committing yourself to the surgery.
Furthermore, make sure that you pick a cosmetic surgeon who will use the safest, least invasive, and most advanced techniques available. You owe it to yourself to get what you put into your surgery; because it costs you time, money, energy, and also will affect your future.

Inquire about the outcome: A good doctor, no matter what the field that person is an expert of, will tell you the possible outcomes of having cosmetic surgery. He will tell you thoroughly what to expect, including possible ways to fix any flaws afterwards. That way you will be prepared for what ever may come to mind, and will not be shocked if something goes wrong. It is important for you to know exactly what you are getting into, so be sure to ask the surgeon, or potential surgeon as many questions as possible.

In fact it may be best for you to make a list of questions before you go in that way you are prepared. Some examples of questions you may ask the surgeon are how long the recovery time is, or whether or not there will be any pain. You can also ask whether or not their will be any scars, bruises, or swelling, and how long it will last. Do not be afraid you will be asking too many questions. It is the surgeon's job to make you feel comfortable, and to be honest with you.

Prepare for a possible letdown: There is one more thing you should keep in mind when you decide on a cosmetic surgery. Some patients have been known to be depressed after surgery. This is often caused by the fact that you may expect to look like a totally different person as soon as the surgery is completed.
A good cosmetic surgeon will have prepared you beforehand for this possibility. Therefore, make sure that you end up with a cosmetic surgeon who encourages you, guides you, and comforts you through the entire process, as well as educates you on what to expect.

Common reactions from friends and family: Oh, most often they will give you a lot of negativity. Most well educated and experienced physicians who perform cosmetic surgery will prepare you for every aspect of the surgery. Many people think it is wrong to have this type of surgery, ( I say to each his own, and that is their opinion...BUT it is YOUR body!) and they will shun you from doing so for a variety of reasons. They may say that if you receive surgery you are no longer your true self, and you no longer have the body you were born with. Others might say that the procedure is a waste of money, or just may not think that you need the surgery. It is important for a cosmetic surgeon to prepare you for the wide range of reactions you may witness in people, before, during and after your surgery.

Furthermore, the well-respected, compassionate surgeon will make sure you are doing this for yourself, and for no one else. If you have this surgery done just because someone else does not think you are pretty enough, or that something is wrong with you, you may never heal emotionally from this instance. A good surgeon will tell you that you should do what is right for you, and make sure that this is really something you want to follow through with. Not only that, but he will also tell you that even if others react negatively, it does not mean that you should not have the surgery. In this case, he will most likely have access to a support group or advise you to connect with people who will support your decision.

Now, please be sure that you follow the above procedures for finding a qualified cosmetic surgeon. If you make a well thought out decision, your chances of having a successful surgery will increase. Not only will your surgery be successful but your overall quality of life will often take a turn for the best. You owe it to yourself to look into all of your options. Any of us has personal reasons to make a plastic operation. Sometimes we can hesitate as there are a lot of unpleasant stories about unsuccessful results of the operation. But frankly speaking plastic surgery is one of achievements of scientific progress. As we use gadgetry, we can use the new ideas in medicine. And it is really a sweet feeling when some feature in your appearance that made you feel so uncomfortable one day disappears!
