It makes more sense and it is a lot less hassle! 

4) To attach the garter to the stockings, place the side of the strap with the rubber nub on underneath your stockings, between your leg and the stocking itself. Now use the corresponding clip, placing the nub in the wide eye and sliding down to firmly hold your stocking in place. Repeat this on all three sides on both legs. Back in the day when my mother wore thigh highs and stocking, I remember then hanging over the shower in the bathroom and the clasps were metal and sturdy,..the problem today is that companies are going cheap-o and using plastic/rubber and it makes it far more difficult to put them on and take the off because of this, nonetheless not to mention that this can be time-consuming and a real pain in the ass.
